Fire and Flames

(0)
A collection of photos of flames and fire that can be used with science lessons on the ingredients for a fire, for safety, and for energy topics. Includes photos of my log fire at home, and photos of a camp fire at my family home in Latvia, where people like to jump over the fire on Jani's Festival or Liga Festival which takes place at the solstice. It is an age old custom and people believe that jumping over the fire will stop evil spirits casting spells on you, purification for the year ahead. Reflections

(0)
A small collection of photos that can be used as part of a lesson on the science of reflections, or on weather, clouds, lakes and rivers. Why is it possible for me to see the clouds in the water? What do you think the weather might be like today, what things should I wear or take with me on my walk? Would I have the same image if the water was running faster? The river Kent caused serious flooding after Storm Desmond when it burst its banks, and many people were homeless or lost businesses for more than 6 months. If you were responsible for the people in the town of Kendal, what might you do to prevent flooding of this river in the future? Please leave me a review and I will send you any other resource of your choice for free (contact me: office@oceansproject.com). William Wordsworth

William Wordsworth

(0)
A small collection of photos of William Wordsworth's former home in the village of Rydal in the Lake District, Cumbria, England and the church where he is buried in Grasmere. William Wordsworth was a famous poet who lived between 1770-1880. (Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Wordsworth). For more photos of Rydal and Rydal Water check out my Rydal photo collection. I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the milky way, They stretched in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. The waves beside them danced; but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: A poet could not but be gay, In such a jocund company: I gazed—and gazed—but little thought What wealth the show to me had brought: For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.
