This is a 10-15 minute assembly or PSHE tutor time resource about perseverance to motivate students of all ages. It explores what perseverance means and how it can be shown in school and in life. It includes the examples of famous people that have persevered and a downloaded clip from the Olympics in Barcelona in 1992 which will never disappear. There are discussion questions but no written activities. This was originally produced for a Year 8 tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for KS3, KS4 & KS5 pupils (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13).

This is a 15 minute assembly, tutor time or PSHE session to share with students in Years 7-13 (KS3, KS4 & KS5 Ages 11-18). It has a downloaded video of newsround clip suitable for all students and explains a snapshot of the situation in Afghanistan. This was originally a whole school assembly narrated but you can easily delete the narration by deleting the icon on each slide. It includes a brief history of the area, key information about the Taliban and Afghanistan, discussion questions, a reflection and a slide connecting it to British Values. It also contains suitable links on the last slide for students to explore more about this topic if they wish. There are no written tasks in this PowerPoint but could easily be turned into an hour’s Citizenship or PSHE lesson if needed.

This is a 10-15 minute narrated assembly about dyslexia. It includes a short downloaded video which will never disappear and defines the condition, how it feels and the benefits of dyslexia looking at famous people with it. It goes through the problems someone with dyslexia has but also focuses on the strengths of having dyslexia. It also shows the students common misconceptions of dyslexia and finishes with an extension video if needed. You can easily delete the icon on each slide if you do not want it narrated. This was originally an assembly for Years 7-13 (Ages 11-18 KS3, KS4 and KS5) but it is also suitable for KS2. It can also be linked with the new RSHE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum or a whole school tutor time resource. There are no written activities in this presentation but it can easily be lengthened if it is needed for a longer lesson.

This is a powerpoint and worksheet to teach KS3 and KS4 about the Gurdwara in Sikhism. It was originally a 90 minute lesson but can be easily completed in 60 minutes or adapted slightly for shorter lessons. This is a KS3, KS4 or KS5 lesson (ages 11-18) focusing on Rastafarianism. It explores the different practices e.g. ital food, dreadlocks, reasoning sessions. It also shows how rastafarianism began and how it developed and is practiced today. There are some video clips, discussion activites, creative activities and written tasks. There is no photocopying for this lesson. This lesson is suitable for 60-90 minute lessons but can be shortened or lengthened very easily. It can be used in Citizenship, PSHE or RE lessons with a focus on SMSC. This is a comprehensive list of all of the online free training courses available for staff to improve their knowledge about topics in the new RSE and Health Curriculum and aid their teaching of PSHE and Citizenship. Each training course has their website, their relevance, timings etc so it is a full list which can be used in a staff training session or put on the Staff online area for people to access throughout the year to complete extra PSHE training courses. Relevant to all Secondary School staff with any interest in PSHE, RSE, safeguarding or mental health.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time resource about British Values. It could be used for an assembly or PSHE/Citizenship/FBV/SMSC session. It explains what the five British values are, how these should be implemented, a discussion about universal values, a focus on the first two values. - Democracy and the Rule of Law. There are many discussion tasks and these could be written tasks if you wanted to lengthen it to a whole lesson. There are three short videos that are downloaded so will never disappear. This was originally an assembly for KS3-KS5 but can also be used as a tutor time session for KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 and is suitable for all year groups (Ages 8-18, Years 4-13). This gives a great overview of British Values and has been positively received by many students.

This session covers: Why sleep is important What sleep deprivation is What happens to your brain and body if you don’t have enough sleep How much sleep a teenager needs How could a lack of sleep affect you at school NHS tips on how to get a good night’s sleep A true and false quiz to check learning and understanding. This fits into the new Relationships and Health Education curriculum and can be easily lengthened to last for a whole lesson if needed. There are discussion tasks and videos to watch and a plenary task. Students reacted very positively to this session. It was originally a Year 7 tutor time PSHE session but can be used for any secondary school year group as an assembly.

This lesson is for KS3 or KS4 and introduces the main beliefs of Sikhism and the life of Guru Nanak including the River Miracle. There is also a worksheet to accompany the lesson. This is a 90 minute lesson but can be shortened easily.

It was originally planned as a 90 minute lesson for Year 7 but can be used for any KS3 or KS4 class and easily adapted for a shorter lesson. This fits into the new Relationships & Health Education Curriculum, Keeping Children Safe in Education, Mental Health focus, SMSC & FBV agendas. Students reacted very well to this session.
