I am a Science Teacher with 25 years experience and love producing resources. As one of my HoD's remarked "Your lesson plans and resources are outstanding, if only you could teach as good as your resources." Chemistry is my main subject, but have an interest in Pedagogy, especially CASE (Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education) and misconceptions and how to overcome them.

Blooms Taxonomy In Science Helpsheet

(1)
This is a Blooms taxonomy based around questions asked in Science lessons. It is aimed at KS3 and KS4. It has examples based on the States of Matter topic covering the hierarchy with examples of each for students to aim for. It can be used by students when answering questions or doing analysis. It can be used as a place mat during lessons or enlarged for classroom display or included in Power points when doing a question in that style.

Neutralisation Required Practical Revision

(1)
This Chemistry resource is used with KS4 students. These exam style questions are adapted from AQA past papers and are now individually graded 9-1. It is designed to ask questions on Working Scientifically and the Maths calculations that are involved. It is normally post practical to test students understanding. It can be used in conjunction with the practical, as a revision or homework activity. It can be used with all abilities and comes with answers. This is for students studying AQA Science 2019. It covers practical procedure (WS 2.2), risks, hazards and control (WS 2.4) and reading scales (WS 2.6). It covers the following subjects: Resolution, Range, Accuracy, Risk Assessment, Independent, Dependent and Control variables, Converting between units, Calculating the mean, recognising Anomalous results etc. On the top right-hand corner of the sheet the students can identify areas where they need to improve so that teachers can easily see which section they are having trouble with. For all the Chemistry Practicals (now individually graded) and a help sheet , check out: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/all-aqa-chemistry-required-practical-revision-with-exam-style-questions-and-answers-2019-12197299 For other resources (Biology and Physics versions of these, please check out my shop with free and paid for resources at: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/stephenkemp193 It can be used as part of the required practical in lessons, as a homework or a revision sheet (even a cover lesson with the answer sheets!). Please comment. Hope you find this resource useful!

Science Misconceptions CPD

(1)
This resource is a complete CPD for staff in science departments. It has everything you need, so that the staff are able to plan effective misconception lessons. This is where misconceptions are exposed, challenged and hopefully overcome. If contains: 27 page ppt to lead the training Misconceptions sorted into Topics and Key stages (so they can easily be inserted into SoW) Full overcoming Forces Misconceptions Lesson (worth £2) Seven activites for Teachers (interactive or participatory) Numerous examples of how activities can be incorporated into lessons or lessons adapted to obtain and challenge expectations. An editable Word version of one of my most downloaded resources (Misconceptions Booklet) so that parts of it can be taken out and used for training. If you’re looking for a Teacher only Toolkit (it’s basically all the resources here minus the CPD activities) click here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/misconceptions-teacher-toolkit-resource-12447706 Please comment if you have found this useful Thank you.

This resource is linked to the AQA specification and has 9-1 graded learning objectives linked to the content. (Update: Now included at no extra cost is my Empirical Formula from Models lesson) It includes: 33 page ppt which explains using a balancing full equations using the circle the formula method, to avoid the misconception to change the formula (see https://twitter.com/MrTSci409/status/1116405433684713472) 3 Helpsheets (Full/Half/State symbols) for students to refer to when completing the questions 46 Equations to balance (30 full and 16 half) with ANSWERS for students to self/peer assess All equations are taken from the AQA Specification (let me know if I’ve missed any out!) Plenary questions (F and H) graded with answers A gratuitous use of colour to help understand how and why equations are balanced. For a free help sheet on how to balance equations from this resource, click here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/balancing-equations-help-sheet-12233425 The Empirical formula from Models lesson details are: This is a full lesson lasting about 1 hour. It includes a Power Point which covers ratios, simplifying formulas into empirical formulas and understanding models of ions. It includes a starter, seven white board practice questions, seventeen question sheet on simplifying formulas, seven question sheet on models and a plenary. It’s a lesson designed to cover an often neglected part of the course… I’ve also included a Power Point with all the models and others I’ve used in the lesson in case you want to design a few more of your own… A shortened version of this is available here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/empirical-formula-from-models-12238973 For more resources (free and paid), please visit: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/stephenkemp193 A hope you find this resource helpful. Physics Equations Uses and Understanding AQA 2019

This lesson is used to introduce Physics equations to students. It explains where they come from, how we use them, how to convert the equation into a triangle, so that it can be rearranged. It includes a sheet where equations can be added and analysed when they come across a new one. The worksheet can be stuck in their book and new ones added in when you come across them or used as revision activity. This will allow them to think about it before they use it. Enjoy! Periodic Table and Elements Lesson or Revision

(0)
This lesson is educational (but fun) that can be used as a normal lesson, but also as an end of term revision lesson. It is aimed at KS3 or lower ability KS4. It lasts approximately 1 hour and has 4 group challenges and a whole class challenge at the end. No knowledge of the Periodic table needed, but if they have, it can be used as a revision lesson. It is a science lesson version of my Escape Room Periodic Table lesson (for the same price) that can be found here (be careful it’s a bit scary): https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/elements-and-the-periodic-table-escape-room-challenge-12193939 It includes: Lesson Plan (it doesn’t need a lab) Clues for students to find elements, their symbols and their position on the Periodic Table in terms of periods and groups. Problem solving challenges Fun Game of Splat at the end. It also uses their knowledge of reactivity of groups 1 and 7 for solving some of the clues. Please comment. I hope you find this resource useful. Thank You.
Balancing Equations Help sheet

Balancing Equations Help sheet

This is a helpsheet that uses the circle/ring the formula method to stop students from the misconception of changing the subscripted formula. Students can use this to help them answer questions until they don’t need this scaffolding. There are a lot of balancing equation question sheets, but not many free methods. Hope this is useful. If you have found this useful, please comment, as it helps other TES user find useful resources. Thank you.
