Spanish Winter Activities Human Bingo Speaking Activity - Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes to each of the 16 boxes. The grids contain questions such as, "Patinas sobre hielo con tu familia o tus amigos?" Examples of other verbs used are montar, ir, pescar, tener, hacer, jugar, ver, esquiar and caminar. When a student replies yes to a question, the interviewing student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. Several squares have a second question such as "con quien?" which gives both students additional speaking practice. When a student fills the entire grid, he shouts, "Bingo!" Also included are suggestions for using the Human Bingo activity and a follow up written assignment.

Spanish Weather Skit / Role Play / Pair Work - Hace Tanto Calor - This is a 2-person skit between 2 friends discussing what they can do in the hot weather. Each person has 5 lines. They agree that it's very hot, and decide to go for ice cream for a little relief. Constructions and phrases used are: tienes hambre, ir a, no lo sé, a qué temperatura estamos, es verdad, quieres ir, vámonos, and more. It's short enough for students to memorize in a day or 2 of practice and utilizes useful, everyday language. It's also a great activity for a substitute teacher lesson. Included: 1. Spanish Verbs Hablar and Practicar with Adverbs of Frequency and Image IDs - Students must: 1. Filll in the blank with the correct conjugation of the either hablar or practicer 2. Translate the 8 sentences to English 3. Write a Spanish word under the 8 clip art images The sentences contain adverbs of frequency words, seasons, and sports words that are either cognates or in a word bank. This activity works well for students new to verb conjugations and is good for back to school review for upper levels of Spanish. Both verbs are fully conjugated for student reference.
