I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

Spanish Preterit Human Bingo Speaking Activity Que Hiciste Hoy? Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes to each of the 16 boxes. The grids contain questions such as, "Hiciste la cama antes de salir de la casa?" Examples of other verbs used are montar, comer, beber, ir, besar, mirar and trabajar. When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. When a student fills the entire grid, he says, "Bingo!" Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verb to the third person. Students must also write a Spanish infinitive under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. The infinitives are verbs that are included in the bingo grid. This is a good activity for students learning the preterit, and it's a good back to school review / get to know you activity for experienced Spanish students.

Spanish Preterit ER and IR Verbs Sentences With Direct Object Pronouns - Students translate 20 English to Spanish sentences containing er and ir verbs with direct object pronouns. Many also include adverbs of time such as today, yesterday, last night, and last week. All are regular except hacer which is used twice. Sample regular verbs are subir, escribir, vender and aprender. These materials can be used to introduce, practice and review, are are useful for several levels of students. The vocabulary used is from common topics such as clothing, food, class objects and other common nouns, and there is good practice of interrogative words and direct and indirect object pronouns. Included are the following: 1. 10 worksheets with answer keys. There are 128 sentences total, plus conjugation practice! 2. 27 word preterit mad lib. This is a 3 page, 3 part assignment. 3. 1 preterit conjugation quiz. 4. Introduction to preterit. This includes conjugations of 10 irregular verbs such as ir, hacer, venir, estar, poner, decir, tener, etc., conjugation of regular AR/ER/IR verbs, conjugation of car/gar/zar verbs. This can be used to introduce and review the preterit in class and is a great student reference! 5. Explanation and examples of preterit IR stem change verbs. This is also good for presenting in class and handing out to students for their reference. 6. Adverbs of time commonly used with the preterit such as today, yesterday, last night, etc. and sample sentences with the verb ir. This is another useful item for presenting and reviewing, and as a handout for student reference.

This item also includes suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. Students first cut, assemble and read the Noche de Brujas Booklet that contains Spanish text and illustrations of items associated with Halloween such as bruja, fantasma, murcielago, etc. They then create their own version using the text only template. Students will have fun sketching these items and will share them enthusiastically with their classmates and family members!
