A full lesson I have used with my Year 11 class. There is a ‘do now’ activity, an exam question based on kingship, with the extract coming from Act 1, Scene 4, a PowerPoint with an annotated extract, model paragraph and a revision clock based on kingship. The main activity is based on an ‘I do/We do/You do’ strategy using a model paragraph that can be easily adapted for your class and their ability.

This is a useful lesson on answering a question on how deception is presented in an extract from Act 3, Scene 2 of Much Ado About Nothing. There is a recall ‘Do Now’ activity at the start with a lesson objective that can easily be adapted to suit your school. There is a model paragraph based on the extract in the I do/You do/We do format with a second paragraph in the ‘notes’ section of the PowerPoint as a guide for teachers.

This is a part of the ‘Up the Line to Death’ poetry anthology that is used for the AQA A-level English Literature paper ‘WW1 and its Aftermath’ Option 3 which is compared to ‘The Wipers Times’ by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman. It’s an excellent resource for revision and has been used several times by myself.

This is a full lesson based on two questions from AQA’s English Literature paper 2 from May 2020 - one based on Mr Birling and one based on males in the play. There is a quick ‘do now’ activity and two model what/how/why paragraphs based on the questions. This is very useful for revision, that also looks in depth at the park scheme and indicative comment. I’ve used it recently and have told my Year 11s and they responded really well to the lesson. I’ve updated the grade boundaries for 2024 exams.

This poem is a part of the ‘Up the Line to Death’ poetry anthology and is used extensively in AQA’s English literature A-level, WW1 and Its Aftermath. This is an author study booklet with two separate studies - the first one is a generic study in which students can choose their own author, while the second study focusing on a comparison between Jane Austen and Charles Dickens in which the students work in a pair to decide who is the ‘best’ author. There are eleven activities in total, five in the first study and six in the second.
