PE KS3 Cricket Scheme of Work

I have created an 8 lesson scheme of work which I will be using after Easter with all of my core PE groups from Y7-9. They are designed to be easily adaptable to allow for changes to be made to suit groups of different abilities / needs. Each practice allows for scaffolding for less able students and progressions for more able students. Each lesson includes a warm up / starter activity, learning outcomes, a skill development practice with progressions and a game at the end. The groups I will be working with will generally be fairly low ability for cricket, which means the main focus of this S.O.W is developing batting and fielding skills. I will develop bowling by using underarm / throw downs / drop feeds if necessary. I will also be using these games and skill development practices with my KS4 groups. Most of the activities in this SOW can be taught in an indoor environment - which is useful due to the weather we are likely to get! We have indoor nets which will allow me to adpat lessons to having some students working on batting / bowling in the nets, and others working on catching skills / fielding on the other side. I have also included some resource cards for batting, bowling and fielding. I don’t often use them in lessons, although some may find them useful.

KS3 fitness 10 lesson scheme of work. Incudes: Fitness testing lessons Circuit, interval, kettlebell training Calories lesson Boxercise lesson Team challenge Lessons include resource cards to support lesson, learning outcomes, questioning ideas, differentiated activities. Alternative ideas given depending on equipment / space available. All the lessons are ones I use when teaching fitness at KS3. The space I would use to teach these lessons would be in a ‘old school’ style gym, with rowing machines, battle ropes, dumbells, kettlebells, skipping ropes, hurdles, step up boxes, medicine balls. Some lessons have alternative suggestions if you do not have access to all equipment. I have found these lessons really useful to incorporate lots of GCSE content in them which helps give students prior knowledge of some topics they will cover in later years.

Full unit of work to deliver R041 - Reducing the risk of sports injuries in preparation for the external exam. Course - BTEC Sport Science (Level 2) Includes: 162 slide PowerPoint (15 lessons). Divided into 4 learning outcomes. 4 mini mocks - Practice assessments using past exam questions to use at the end of each learning outcome. 53 page work booklet / graphic organiser - Print for each student for them to fill out during the lessons rather than using an exercise book. This prevents the need to print worksheets / students to spend time copying information off the board & instead gives them more time to spend applying the content to tasks and exam questions! Each lesson includes: Engage / starter activity New content - students fill in the blanks in their booklet / complete deeper thinking questions. Task - Broze, silver, gold tasks to make easy differentiation for application of knowledge. Practice exam questions - Finish the lesson with an exam question from a past paper.
