It looks at the difficulties of forming coalitions, but also the decline of extremism. Research into key person Paul Von Hindenburg. This lesson would take an hour to teach, but home learning would be needed to complete all of the activities.

This is the eleventh lesson in a series created for the A Level unit Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany. It considers the debate relating to the recovery of the economy under Stresemann, and involves activities requiring the students to evaluate evidence and reach conclusions in relation to different historical interpretations. It also introduces and requires students to write a 20 mark essay for homework. Ideally this lesson should be taught in conjunction with the Access to History, Democracies and Dictatorships in Germany, but other text books could be used to support it.

Two 20/30 minutes assemblies which discuss the origins of Halloween and the Gunpowder Plot. Both contain short clips telling the stories of the 2 events, and a quiz which gets the students involved in the stories. The assemblies both contain advice about how to stay safe on Halloween and Bonfire Night. They are suitable for KS1 and 2, and also KS3 (years 7 and 8)

This assembly is suitable for key stages 1 and 2, possibly 3 if you use the longer clip. It lasts between 20 and 30 minutes (depending on which clip you use). It is a fun interactive assembly which tells the story of the Gunpowder Plot and then involves a fun quiz to test recall and to get the children involved in the story. It links the plot to bonfire night and ends with some tips on firework safety.

It considers the importance of black history and highlights the journey from slavery to the most powerful man in the world. It demonstrates the cultural contribution of the black journey and includes 3 clips - the slave trade; Maya Angelou’s poem ‘still I rise’ and members of the black community stating what black history month means to them and why.
