About Berlin British School gGmbH - Primary School
The Berlin British School was formed in 1994 providing education for children at all school levels, from all over the world. A secure, caring, family atmosphere enables pupils to settle quickly, develop self-esteem and respect for each other. The school strives to enable pupils to achieve the highest standards of education.
Organization
The Berlin British School e.V is a non-profit-making association managed by a committee elected by members of the association.
Academic Program
The curriculum provides an education based on the ethos and philosophy of the British educational system, while taking due note of the international community which it serves and its geographical location at the heart of Germany. The school teaches children from nursery level through to the International Baccalaureate, but it maintains a small-community feeling because its lower, middle, and senior schools occupy different sites. Each site provides facilities designed for the needs of its children.
The Berlin British School has pupils from several dozen different nations. It provides extra English lessons for children who are acquiring English as a new language. German language teaching is provided for children who are reasonably fluent in English, as well as for native German speakers. Pupils are taught in small groups to ensure rapid attainment of a language level that enables them to take an active part in the classroom.
Lower and middle school pupils follow the UK National Curriculum. Senior school pupils work for the International Baccalaureate Diploma, which allows them to follow a highly respected curriculum that is available in international schools around the world. The Berlin British School is particularly proud of the success of its pupils: our pass rate at IB is 100%, and in 2006, one student achieved the maximum possible number of points. At IGCSE, results are equally impressive, with 95% of students achieving Grade C or above in a minimum of five subjects.
