About Halam CofE Primary School
Halam Church of England Primary School (VC)
We are a small rural, but very active, village primary school with a catchment of Edingly and Halam and in 2019/20 our numbers total 90 pupils. Subject to numbers within school each year, we also welcome children from a much wider catchment area. We are an all-inclusive school with a passion for encouraging our children to become independent and effective learners in all areas of their life. We manage this through delivering a fun and engaging curriculum within a Christian ethos that is underpinned by our 5 finger Christian values.
Our Vision Statement - 'Life in all its Fullness'
'Life in all its fullness' - to create a school where everyone is motivated to achieve their full potential within a Christian and caring environment.
Aims and values of our school
We abide by a set of 5 Christian based values (chosen by pupils, staff, governors and parents). Ofsted 2017 said ‘These are well understood by pupils and help to make the school a harmonious and inclusive place to learn’. They ensure we achieve our vision of creating a school where everyone is motivated to achieve their full potential within a Christian and caring environment. The children incorporate these values in everything they do in and around school (and when out in the community):
Take care
We aim that children take care of each other, themselves and take care in everything they do. "Let all that you do be done in Love" (1 Cor: 16)
Ofsted 2017 stated ‘pupils clearly take a pride in their work and produce work of a high standard’.
Integrity
We aim that children show integrity by doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking, fostering an attitude of mutual respect. "Do to others as you would have them do to you" (Luke 6:31 )
Perseverance
We aim for all children to demonstrate perseverance in their learning, show a love of learning, show perseverance in relationships and in facing any problems. We encourage children to approach new challenges with confidence and be innovative in their learning. "Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap our reward, if we do not give up" (Gal 6:9)
Aspire
We aim that children aspire to be the best that they can be in all areas of school ife and support others to do the same. Every child is working towards profound personal development and we celebrate their achievements. "Life in all its fullness" (John 10:10) Ofsted 2017 said ‘High expectations are evident throughout the school and all members of the school community aspire to excellence’
Kindness
We aim to ensure behaviour is outstanding and that children understand what it means to be kind and show kindness and compassion to others. We develop caring and close links with the local community, parents, governors and church. "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." (Eph 4:32) Ofsted 2017 said Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary. Consequently, there is a purposeful atmosphere where everyone strives to do his or her best.
These values are based on the Church of England’s four cornerstones in their vision for education: wisdom, hope, community and dignity
