K. International School Tokyo

K. International School Tokyo (KIST) is a private, co-educational, non-denominational day school located in Tokyo, Japan. Founded in 1997, KIST provides academically motivated children from diverse cultural and social backgrounds with a high-quality education in a safe and supportive environment to develop competent, academic and compassionate individuals who make meaningful contributions to our global community. More than 630 students representing over 40 different nationalities are currently enrolled from preschool through grade 12. KIST is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is recognized as an educational foundation by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

KIST is a mission-driven, academically focused, achievement-oriented school that provides opportunities for students to develop academic skills at increasingly higher levels as they progress through a continuum of challenging educational programs in preparation for university entrance. Our ultimate goal is for all students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to our global society at a high level in order to achieve high scores in the DP that lead to matriculation to universities of their choice, regardless of their family background or financial situation. 

Authorized as an IB World School by the International Baccalaureate (IB), KIST was the first school in Tokyo and the Kanto region, and the second school in Japan, fully authorized to offer the three inquiry-based programmes: PYP, MYP and DP. The curriculum at KIST - as based on the IB programmes and the IGCSE - focuses on developing academic skills - with an emphasis on language and mathematics - that increase the chances for students to enter universities of their choice around the world, regardless of their family background or financial situation.

KIST graduates have a proven record of success in gaining acceptance to leading universities around the world, including Japan. Almost 100% of our graduates have been successful in gaining entrance to universities, many with scholarships as based on the high scores they have achieved in their final DP examinations.

KIST has been the highest ranking school offering the IB Diploma in Japan since 2015.
