About Nobel Algarve British International School

Founded in 1972, Nobel Algarve British International School is the is the largest private school in Portugal, a truly international school, students from more than 40 different nationalities are educated here. The school has two campuses, Lagoa and Almancil. Lagoa is the flagship campus, located in the heart of the Algarve. The newer Almancil campus is situated in what is known as the Golden Triangle of the Algarve. Both campuses are close to Faro international airport and just two hours to Lisbon and Seville.

The Lagoa campus is K12, educating students from ages 3 – 18 whilst the Almancil campus currently educates students from ag 3 – 14. The Lagoa campus starts with a bi-lingual pre-school and then branches off to two distinct sections. The National Section follow the Portuguese Ministry approved curriculum and the International Section follows a contextualised English National Curriculum leading to iGCSEs and A-Levels. The International Section has a proven track record of exam success in A-Levels with 50% of its leavers entering the top 100 ranked universities around the world (The Times). The Almancil campus is newer educating students in their pre-school, primary and middle school phases. The secondary phase is opening in September 2023 and all students follow the contextualised English National Curriculum.

As you walk around Nobel Algarve, the first thing I think you will notice is our children who are happy and hard working. Of course, this is no accident, and our dedicated staff work together to develop a school which delivers a first-class international education developing young people who appreciate the perspectives of others, who face challenges confidently and who develop leadership qualities to equip and inspire them to contribute to a more just and sustainable world.

Here we use a ‘Warm – Strict’ ethos; building strong relationships between pupils and teachers is fundamental to our school culture. Central to these relationships is our ‘Warm-Strict’ ethos. We believe every pupil can embody the values and virtues of Nobel Algarve. Whilst we are firmly and consistently holding our pupils to these expectations, we acknowledge that pupils need to understand the beliefs and values that drive our actions. As a result, we strive to project warmth, care, and kindness in all we do.

We are proud to belong to the Globeducate network of schools.

Globeducate is a network of more than 50 premium international schools educating more than 25,000 students in ten different countries and on three continents. We believe that our students will only be able to make a difference to the world of tomorrow if they are prepared for the challenges they will face. This is why we enable our students to build character, acquire skills and master abilities beyond the purely academic. Our teams of experienced, highly qualified educators and the use of leading-edge teaching methods are key to developing our students’ individual talents at every educational stage.

Values and vision

At Nobel Algarve, we prepare our pupils to shape tomorrow through excellence in a British or Portuguese education, with a global perspective.

The Nobel Algarve vision and values are to enrich and challenge our students so they each achieve success in their own way and help shape the future.

We believe challenge is both a fact of life and a vital catalyst for growth and that a great education enriches a life. We believe every student has the potential to shape a better future. We believe each pupil will achieve.

Our students will only succeed in the world of tomorrow if they are prepared for the challenges they will face.

We prepare each student to be a global citizen who can shape the world.
