About The British School of Gran Canaria, Maspalomas
First established in 1996, the British School of Grand Canaria is a co-educational international school located on Gran Canaria, one of the largest of the Spanish Canary Islands off the western coast of Africa. The school is spread across two campuses on the island, serving the primary and secondary sections of the school. Both of these campuses play host to modern facilities, with the primary campus for children aged 3-11 being able to boast of a large purpose-built school building, and an impressive suite of facilities including a fully-equipped library, numerous modern air-conditioned classrooms, and a large playground. In addition to these, plans exist for the school to undergo additional expansion in the near future, adding yet more modern teaching and recreational facilities to the school’s campuses. The vast majority of the lessons at the British School of Gran Canaria are delivered in English, with additional language support being made available for students for whom this is a second language. The entire school follows the English National Curriculum, with students aged 15-16 studying for their iGCSE examinations before moving on to A-levels during their time in the school’s sixth form.
