Treviglas Academy

Treviglas Academy is a thriving school situated in the heart of Newquay, Cornwall. The school has just over 920 students and subsequently offers students a safe and supportive environment for them to begin their secondary education journey.

Our exceptional staff deliver a high-quality curriculum to hard-working, talented and ambitious students to ensure their success. Our students leave us ready to embark on their chosen successful futures, and our community is committed to approaching every situation with kindness.

In school, our staff have the most significant influence on student achievement. We support them with a framework called the Tools for Improvement that safeguards learning in a calm and purposeful environment. Staff present the subject matter clearly and provide focused, direct feedback to support student progress and inform future learning.

Our curriculum is constructed ambitiously. The learning journey reflects the national curriculum and beyond. It is designed so students can make the most of local, national and global labour market opportunities. The school offers a coherently planned curriculum with breadth and balance, ensuring students maintain high academic standards within an inclusive environment. We know our students do best when our staff and families work together and actively participate in the learning journey.

Everything we do is driven by kindness, and our four "Cornerstones" represent the values we share with our students, staff, parents and carers. We expect our school community to attend every day dressed smartly, be well-organised and properly equipped. We ask that everyone has a commitment to learning, showing determination, care and effort. We ask all our students that they show manners and empathy for others in the language they use and the things that they do. Every member of the community values themselves and takes every opportunity to participate, represent and lead.

We feel very proud to belong to The Roseland Multi-Academy Trust, which we joined in 2019. The Trust consists of three secondary, two small primary schools and a teaching school hub (OneCornwall). The Trust’s mission is “to provide outstanding education for our communities, where everyone succeeds” and we put our staff at the heart of everything we do to create a team spirit in our highly successful schools.

Within the Trust we have been successful in establishing a Teaching School Hub through the recognised outstanding provision provided by The Roseland Academy. In Cornwall, the East Cornwall Teaching School Hub works in partnership with the West Cornwall Teaching School Hub, creating OneCornwall Teaching School Hub. This collaboration has been driven by leaders of education in Cornwall to ensure that all schools have access to the highest quality CPD and teacher training opportunities through OneCornwall. The establishment of the Teaching School Hub has created exciting opportunities for our staff.

We recognise the importance of ensuring staff within our Trust feel valued, and their work is recognised and celebrated. We invest and plan our CPD to ensure quality and opportunity for development. Through our staff development processes, we encourage every member of staff to lead in their role and firmly believe success starts with a great team. The investment in quality staff CPD and staff wellbeing creates the positive learning environment within our school setting that enables our children to thrive and succeed.
