This is a fantastic opportunity to play an instrumental role in driving up standards of initial teacher training across Teach West London’s Partner schools. Teach West London is seeking to appoint: An Initial Teacher Training Quality Assurance Lead (Lead Mentor) – Primary phase

This is a fixed-term post from Sept 2024 – August 2025

1/2 day per week (0.1 FTE)

We are looking for an experienced and highly successful teacher who is passionate about working with trainee teachers and supporting teacher recruitment and retention. The successful candidates will work to drive up standards of support for Primary Initial Teacher trainees across Teach West London’s partner schools.

Their main responsibility will be to:

  • Carry out quality assurance visits.
  • Provide bespoke support to placement schools, school mentors and trainee teachers.

The role is targeted at individuals with a successful track record of working with ITT or ECT mentors and developing others through effective monitoring and mentoring/coaching. Individuals must be able to build strong professional relationships with others and be highly effective communicators.

The role involves travel to partner schools and attendance at meetings at the Teach West London hub at Ada Lovelace C of E High School.

You will join an ambitious and enthusiastic team that seeks to deliver outstanding Initial Teacher training and will be well supported by an experienced Initial Teacher Training Leadership Team.

Teach West London is the Teaching School Hub for the four London boroughs of Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow. Teach West London is a newly accredited Initial Teacher Training Provider, currently recruiting trainees to start delivery in September 2024. Our ambitious target for 2024/25 is to train 120 trainees (primary and secondary) in partnership with schools across West London. Over the next four years we aim to increase the number of teachers we successfully train each year up to 300. Teach West London is based at Ada Lovelace C of E High School. Successful Candidates will have:

  • Highly successful classroom Teaching experience.
  • Experience of supporting teachers early in their career and working with mentors.
  • The ability to influence, persuade and coach effectively.
  • Professional attitude and approach to work.
  • Willingness and ability to work autonomously and flexibly.
  • Ability to organise, plan and prioritise work, paying attention to detail.

To carry out this tole, the successful candidate will need to visit different partner schools in TSH region and work at Ada Lovelace when required for meetings. Other responsibilities can be carried out remotely.

The Twyford Church of England Academies Trust (TCEAT) is a Multi Academy Trust which comprises four secondary schools in the London Borough of Ealing.
