The School

Kathmandu International Study Centre (KISC) is a co-educational school which is BSO and MSA accredited, and serves more than 200 students aged 4-18, from over 20 countries. It is a school with a Christian ethos, flowing out of its mission, vision and values.

KISC comprises a Primary and Secondary School, as well as a Teacher Training establishment, called EQUIP. Our mission is to provide excellent education, primarily for the international mission community and Nepali school communities, based on KISC values. Through our schools and the EQUIP programme, students and staff are helping to transform children’s lives, as well as making a positive impact on wider Nepali society.

The Role

We are seeking an inspiring, enthusiastic and passionate Art Teacher to join our dynamic international school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons in line with the Cambridge International Curriculum, fostering artistic skills, and encouraging students to express themselves through various art forms.

The key roles and responsibilities of the post include contributing to:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons for IGCSE Art & Design.
  • Develop and implement a creative, inclusive, and engaging curriculum aligned with Cambridge standards.
  • Guide students in various artistic techniques, including painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.
  • Assess, record, and report on students’ progress in accordance with school and curriculum guidelines.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support students in developing their portfolios.
  • Organise and participate in school exhibitions, competitions, and extracurricular art-related activities.
  • Ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and experimentation.
  • Stay up to date with developments in art education and integrate innovative teaching strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support student learning and development.

 

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience.

Education

·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field

·       PGCE, QTS, or equivalent international teaching qualification

Skills and Experience

  • 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or Cambridge curriculum school
  • Experience teaching IGCSE and A-Level Art & Design
  • Knowledge of contemporary art trends and the ability to incorporate them into lessons
  • Experience in organising school-wide art projects and exhibitions
  • Strong cross-cultural understanding and ability to work in a diverse environment
  • Strong artistic abilities, classroom management, and student engagement techniques.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
  • Familiarity with digital art tools and integrating technology into the art curriculum.
