Job overview

For September 2025, Cheltenham College Preparatory School seeks maternity cover to cover the role of Assistant Director of Music, initially for a 12-month period.

The Prep School has a thriving Music Department, and the appointee will work in both the curricular and co-curricular domains under the direction of the Head of Department, making a major contribution to musical life at The Prep. Music is taught throughout the school, from Nursery through to Year 8, and the current post-holder delivers lessons throughout this age range.

This post would suit either an experienced class music teacher, or someone looking to gain experience within a busy Prep School music department. NQTs welcome to apply.

Keyboard skills and previous experience working with instrumental ensembles is desirable, but exact duties can be tailored to a candidates strengths.
