About this Role

Ormiston Horizon Academy is a successful and ambitious 11-16 secondary academy at the heart of our community, with £23 million facilities which are second-to-none. We continually strive to improve and be the best that we can be, and we encourage our staff to do the same, giving them access to frequent and exciting development opportunities. 

The role of Assistant Principal (AP) is a vital one for the Academy. It is a strategic leadership role where the AP leads on a significant aspect of the Academy, with others, to ensure it impacts positively on Inclusion across the academy.

The purpose and key areas of the role include, but are not limited to, those listed below.

Role Purpose:

  • To lead and develop all aspects of Classroom Practice across the academy to ensure all students have an outstanding Quality of Education.
  • Working closely with VP, ensure that the implementation phase of the curriculum is being executed appropriately by all staff.
  • To lead the Early Career Pathway programme across the academy, working closely with the Trust and other local providers.
  • To provide high quality support to Directors of Faculty through the academy line management system.

Key Areas: 

  • To ensure teaching across the academy is consistently good and supports all students to gain good outcomes.
  • To ensure effective classroom practice is in place.
  • To develop the academy's T&L policy. 
  • In conjunction with the VP, quality assure the Quality of Education across the academy.

  • Lead outstanding Quality of Education
  • develop yourself and others
  • manage the Academy,
  • secure accountability
  • & strengthen the community
