Salary:             £25,000 - £32,000 per annum depending on experience 

Hours:             37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm

Contract:        Permanent, Term time only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Senco/SEND Assistant to join our close-knit team at Reddish Hall School located in Stockport.

About the role

The primary purpose of the Assistant SENCO/ SEND Assistant role at Reddish Hall School is to work closely with the Assistant Head for SEND and the SENCO to develop and implement whole-school strategies that effectively meet the diverse special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) of the pupils. This role is crucial in supporting the school's commitment to enabling pupils who have struggled in previous educational settings to succeed by providing a calm, constructive, and nurturing environment that promotes both learning and social development.

  • This role would suit either a teacher or teaching assistant who has experience or specialist interest in supporting pupils with SEMH needs. 
  • A small teaching commitment would also be expected if the successful candidate has QTS.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Assistant Head for SEND and SENCO in developing and implementing whole-school SEND strategies to ensure the needs of all pupils are met.
  • Support the SENCO in carrying out annual reviews, Personal Education Plans (PEPs), and other relevant meetings, as well as completing associated documentation.
  • Provide teaching and 1:1 intervention support to pupils with SEND as required.


Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, staff, and other stakeholders to support individual pupils with SEND.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff to ensure positive outcomes for pupils with SEND.
  • Work as a team member, identifying opportunities for collaboration and sharing effective practice with colleagues.
  • Liaise with the SENCO to support in coordinate the programme of Annual Reviews for all students within the school.

Reddish Hall School is a co-educational school catering for pupils aged 5-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour- all of our young people have an Education Health Care Plan. The school accepts pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, though they may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, Asperger’s, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or a variety of other conditions. Additionally, many of our pupils have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

All pupils attending Reddish Hall School have individual needs that have proved too complex to be addressed within a mainstream setting. The school provides effective support and a suitably differentiated curriculum, enabling them to progress and succeed to the best of their ability.
