An exciting opportunity has arisen at Emerson Park Academy for a highly motivated, efficient and reliable individual to join our Inclusion Faculty assisting the SENDCo in the provision for pupils with additional needs.

 

The key duties of this role are:

  • Support the SENDCo to implement SEND policies, plans, targets and practices.
  • Coordinate work programmes for individuals/groups and also lead on some targeted interventions
  • To directly line manage a team of Learning Coaches as directed by the SENCO.
  • To develop the use of technology and software to support the learning of pupils with additional needs.
  • Provide support to pupils to develop their academic attainment and/or their emotional and behaviour needs
  • To liaise and meet with parents of pupils with Additional Needs
  • Day to day management of the Additional Needs Team in the absence of the SENDCo
  • To deliver quality first teaching with genuine passion for your subject specialism.

 

The Inclusion Faculty develops provision of high-quality education for all pupils, which enables them to reach or exceed their potential, through developing skills and strategies to reduce barriers to learning. We believe in achievement for all children and aim to foster a culture of life-long learning and independent living skills by providing ambitious pastoral support. 

 

We ask that interested applicants:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status and possess a SENDCo qualification or equivalent (or be willing to complete this).
  • Take a positive approach to behaviour by forging strong and respectful relations with pupils
  • Be committed to achieving the best outcomes for all pupils whilst also being patient and empathetic
  • Be aware of confidentiality guidelines and safeguarding procedures
  • Have the ability to communicate with children, parents/carers, and staff clearly and accurately
  • Have knowledge and understanding of SEND including relevant policies and documentation
  • Have experience of working in a team including strong interpersonal skills
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills with a good standard of English
  • Have good IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. A working knowledge of SIMS, or equivalent school management system would be advantageous

 

A full and comprehensive induction programme is followed for all new staff.

 

Emerson Park is a successful and oversubscribed 11-16 Secondary school in the London Borough of Havering. We are set in pleasant surroundings on the edge of the green belt with close proximity to both countryside and central London. Emerson Park Academy is a mixed comprehensive school for pupils aged 11-16 years. 

Since September 1999, 192 pupils have been admitted annually, in response to parental demand.  The Academy can trace its roots back to 1943 when it began life as the only Grammar School in the country to be establised during World War Two.  It move to its present site in 1954 and became a comprehensive school in 1973. 

Emerson Park Academy has a full complement of committed and highly qualified specialist teaching and support staff.  The Academy is most fortunate to benefit from such a talented, hard-working workforce.  The Academy is set in spacious and attractive groundsd overlooking the Ingrebourne Valley.
