Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only plus 5 days
Monday-Thursday 07:30 – 15:30 & Friday 07:30-15:00
Accountable to: Attendance Leader
Role:
Monitor and report on student attendance with an impact on improvement and incentive to ensure the whole school attendance is in line or above national average. Be responsible for co-ordinating home visits for all students to ensure they are pro-active and impactful.
Purpose of job:
Contribute to a key objective of the Academy Development and Improvement Plan, to achieve the highest standards of pupil achievement, through supporting increasing attendance rates.
To develop and maintain effective partnership, working with parents/carers with a commitment to safeguarding, improving attendance and promoting the welfare of children.
Responsible for improving the whole school attendance, so that it is in line with the national averages.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To monitor and support attendance across the academy in conjunction with the Attendance Leader, identifying and prioritising focus areas:
· To attend and provide information for meetings with the attendance team.
· To support the Attendance Officers with attendance meetings at the family home and school, discuss and support with attendance issues.
· To lead, track and monitor home visits all students, including liaising with the cluster.
· To work with the pastoral team to ensure home visits are impactful and promote positive attendance.
· With the Attendance Officers plan and agree strategies to target improvements in attendance for specific students.
· To keep meticulous records of actions and outcomes, which may be called upon in court cases.
· To proactively and independently manage a caseload as agreed with the Attendance Leader.
· To assist Attendance Officer in the monitoring of progress of Legal Orders, including Education Supervision Orders, Parenting Order and School Attendance Service and any other legal requirements.
· To be available as a point of contact for families.
· To support the Attendance Officer, organise communication home including letters.
· To have good knowledge of current attendance, headline data and emerging themes.
· Ensure all the absence of students is addressed in line with the Department of Educations (DFE) working together to improve attendance guidance.
· Reinforce expectations of attendance through daily monitoring calls.
· Ensure contacts are logged using the academy’s MIS system (Arbor).
· To monitor the daily lates to the academy ensuring that the lates procedure is followed.
· To work with the attendance team to manage the signing in and out process for students entering and leaving the academy, to ensure we follow safeguarding procedures.
· To assist the Attendance Leader to track and monitor student attendance at Alternative Provision, by regular contact with home and the academy and intervene when a student is not attending.
