Summary of the Position:

The Deputy Principal, shapes the overall strategic direction of the school and ensures the operational effectiveness of the division on a day-to-day basis. The DP is responsible for developing, and leading the implementation of, the Counselling and Learning Support services and Personal Development program, the latter of which includes the pastoral curriculum, after-school activities, and various events. The Deputy Principal helps ensure students make individual progress and that they adhere to Badminton’s Code of Conduct within a growth-minded and supportive context. The position of Deputy Principal reports directly to the Principal.

 

Preferred Qualifications, Experience and Qualities:

·      Master’s degree or equivalent in education, leadership or a related field

·      Teaching credential

·      Five years classroom experience or equivalent

·      Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·      Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage faculty and staff effectively

·      Evidence of continued professional development

·      Experience working in Korea or other Asian countries

 

Responsibilities:

            Teaching, Learning and Assessment

·       To Work closely with the academic leads ensuring a sensible balance teaching periods for compulsory education

·       Lead on the quality assurance of bilingual curriculum delivery across the whole school

·       Active role in teachers’ recruitment in the School

·       Active role in developing teachers across the whole school to ensure they adhere to Badminton standards

·       Lead and prepare for the whole school bilingual education academic literature for parents, students and staff including policies, relevant sections of the Staff Handbook, Student Handbook and the School website.

·       Maintain currency in all aspects related to academic compliance

·       Attend and participate in subject network meetings with other professionals to enhance curriculum practice

Communication

·       Communicate with parents, students, and other professional staff regarding student progress (behavioral and academic)

·       Develop and maintain rapport with faculty, staff, students and parents by treating others with friendliness, dignity and consideration

·       Follow all guidelines for confidentiality

·       Effectively use verbal and non-verbal communication to foster active inquiry, to manage conflict, build and maintain relationships, and to facilitate the academic and spiritual goals of the school

·       Promote an ethos of teaching in the subject matching Badminton expectations and aligned to the teaching standards document

·       Analyse, evaluate and respond to student performance

·       Contribute to school meetings effectively with relevant agenda items and supporting development

·       Ensure effective communication/consultation with parents and carers including information about supporting their child at home

·       Communicate subject specific information (where appropriate) across the school e.g. calendared events

Community Responsibilities

·       Follow school policies, procedures, rules, regulations, guidelines and the provisions of the contract and as outlined in the Faculty and Staff Handbook, and other school publications

·       Coordinate with teaching staff and the registrar to maintain and submit on time regular and accurate attendance, grades and other records

·       Safeguard the interests and mission of the school

·       Respectfully submit and demonstrate cooperativeness to constituted authority.

·       Demonstrates timeliness in submissions for deadlines, willingness to be proactive in his/her responsibilities, and sensitivity to living and working in a community that relies upon each other for effective ministry

Safeguarding

To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom the EYFS Teacher is responsible, or with whom he/she encounters, and to adhere to and ensure compliance with Badminton Korea’s Safeguarding Policy at all times. If, during carrying out the duties of the post, the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, any concerns must be reported to the school’s Principal in accordance with Badminton Korea’s policies and procedures
