Since opening in August 2024, BC Academy International School - Dubai, has seen great interest from our Dubai community. As such, we are expanding our Secondary School provision as we grow into KS3. We are looking for highly skilled and motivated subject specialists who can lead Teaching & Learning to initially set up KS3 for AY 24/25, and KS4-5 in the near future.

The Role 

BC Academy International School is seeking a passionate and innovative Secondary Mathematics Teacher to join our expanding KS3 program. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for mathematics through engaging lessons and modern teaching strategies, including the use of manipulatives and Singaporean math methodologies. This role provides an exciting opportunity to help establish a strong mathematics curriculum, with scope for progression into KS4 and KS5.

Applicants must be native English speakers and have at least 3-5 years experience working in a British Curriculum school. This role is suitable for a current Head or Deputy Head of Department, or even an aspiring middle leader.

This role is not suitable for NQT/ECT teachers.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, student-centered mathematics lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
  • Integrate manipulatives, visual aids, and hands-on activities to enhance students' conceptual understanding of mathematics.
  • Employ Singaporean math strategies, such as CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) approaches, to foster deep mathematical comprehension.
  • Design and implement differentiated lessons that cater to a wide range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Use formative and summative assessment tools to track student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Develop schemes of work and resources to support a seamless transition into KS4 and KS5.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary learning and incorporate real-world applications of mathematics.
  • Engage students in problem-solving, critical thinking, and logical reasoning through innovative pedagogical techniques.
  • Participate in whole-school activities, enrichment programs, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with inspection and accreditation criteria from entities such as the UAE Ministry of Education and British Schools Overseas (BSO).


Essential Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field; a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification with QTS.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school.
  • Native English speaker with excellent communication skills.
  • Expertise in utilizing manipulatives and visual tools to support mathematics instruction.
  • Proficiency in Singaporean math strategies, including CPA approaches, bar modeling, and scaffolding techniques.
  • Familiarity with the British National Curriculum (KS3-KS5) and relevant assessment frameworks.
  • Strong skills in differentiation and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience with technology integration to enhance teaching and learning in mathematics.


Desirable Requirements:

  • Leadership experience, such as Head or Deputy Head of Department.
  • A Master’s degree in Education or Mathematics-related disciplines.
  • Experience in developing or establishing new educational phases (e.g., creating KS3 programs).
  • Knowledge of inspection frameworks such as BSO, KHDA, or Ofsted, with experience in inspection preparation.
  • Additional qualifications in mathematics pedagogy, gifted education, or intervention strategies for struggling learners.
  • Familiarity with programming or coding as part of cross-curricular STEM initiatives.
  • Experience teaching in an international or multicultural setting.
