We are looking for both career changers and recent graduates to train as Business Studies teachers.

Dulwich College in partnership with the University of Roehampton has created a teacher training programme designed to help address the acute shortage of Business Studies & Economics teachers.

Trainees on the programme are in school from day one and at the end of the year are awarded both qualified teacher status (QTS) and a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE). They undertake a main school placement at one of our partner schools (spanning the comprehensive, grammar and independent sectors) and also a second, six-week placement at a contrasting school. After completing induction, and during both placements, trainees generally teach for four days per week and spend the fifth at Roehampton University or a hub school for subject and professional studies training, designed and delivered by leading practitioners. The course is highly subject specialised: trainees receive 14.5 days of subject specific training over the year.

Entry requirements for candidates are a first- or second-class bachelor’s degree (or equivalent of) in a relevant subject, in addition to a love of their subject and a desire to work with young people.

Dulwich College is an academically selective independent boys’ school in south east London with a tradition of inspired teaching, genuine scholarship and co- curricular breadth. We are a school committed to providing a wealth of opportunities to pupils and colleagues within a nurturing, equitable and caring ethos.

There are approximately 1,630 boys on the school roll, of whom some 130 are boarders. There is a strong history of diversity at the College, reflecting that of south east London generally, but also that we are committed to an expanding programme of means-tested access. Currently about 30% of pupils have such an award but we hope to increase this to 50% in the coming years.

Situated in 70 acres, yet only 12 minutes by train from central London, the College enjoys outstanding academic, co-curricular and sporting facilities, including The Laboratory, a RIBA National Award-winning Science and Arts building. There has also been an extensive refurbishment of its iconic Grade II* listed Barry Buildings and surrounding landscaping.

Further information about the College can be found on our website www.dulwich.org.uk.
