Oakmere Primary School and Nursery are seeking a friendly, flexible and pro-active person to join our welcoming school. The main duties involve providing and ensuring a clean, healthy and safe environment for users of the school buildings and grounds and to make a contribution to the maintenance of the buildings, fixtures and fittings. Please refer to our job description for more information. This is a part-time role for 30 hours per week, 52 weeks of the year, with annual leave entitlement to be taken during the school holidays. Additional hours will be negotiable for the right candidate, should they wish to be involved in the opening and closing for lettings 4 evenings a week and some weekend hours. A qualification in a particular trade, e.g. plumbing, would be ideal. However, proven experience of general maintenance skills would be acceptable. The candidate would be expected to attend training courses relevant to the role, i.e. health and safety for site managers, asbestos training, ladder safety etc. The following attributes are essential to this post:

  • An ability to be flexible, pro-active, approachable, have good communication skills and able to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of the main requirements of health and safety legislation and good practice or a willingness to learn them.
  • Knowledge on the operational needs of a primary school.
  • Computer literate
