The School is looking to appoint a School Staff Instructor to help run its successful and popular Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and to assist with leading Ten Tors and Duke of Edinburgh. The SSI enables the Contingent Commander to concentrate on forward planning, delivery, assessment and supervision of cadet activities. Wellington School CCF Contingent currently has an Army section of 140 cadets, a Royal Naval Section of 49 cadets and 40 RAF cadets, aged 14 to 18 years. The School also has a Corp of Drums with 42 musician cadets.

Candidates should have a genuine passion for working with young people alongside previous experience in a military background in regular, reserve or cadet forces. The post is part-time, all year around, working to an average of 3 days per week (24hours per week). The role will require occasional weekend working and attendance at camps and trips, therefore the working days will be agreed with the Contingent Commander at the start of each academic year.

Candidates must have a full UK Driving Licence and previous experience in a military background in regular, reserve or cadet forces.

Previous experience with cadets(CCF)and/ or training and developing officers and/ orpreviousexperienceinaSchoolorothereducationalenvironmentaredesirable.

Wellington School is a Church of England denominational, co-educational, day and boarding school in Somerset. As of the most recent inspection, there were 900 pupils on the school roll. The school’s motto is the opening of Psalm 127; ‘If God Be Not With Us, Our Labour is in Vain’. The Senior School teaches pupils between the ages of 11-18. The school also offers preparatory facilities from the ages of 3 onwards. Founded in 1837 as a boys school, Wellington has been fully independent and co-educational since 1978. The 35 acre site is a combination of traditional and more recent architecture. The school operates in both a boarding and day capacity.
