Job overview

Clerk to Governors

£28,163 to £30,060 pro rata

Hardenhuish School is a thriving academy based in North Wiltshire and a rare vacancy has arisen for an outstanding clerk to play a key role in the supporting the governing body. The work is irregular involving attending a series of early evening committee meetings usually 6 per term.

You will be responsible for preparing meetings and minuting them accurately. Additionally, you will play a critical role in ensuring the governing body is legally compliant and carrying out its duties effectively. You need to be a self-starter available to adjust to the peaks and troughs of the workflow which means in some weeks you will work more than the advertised hours and in others less. You will mostly work from home although you will be expected to attend meetings and other activities at school as required. A knowledgeable clerk would be preferable but someone with related experience and a willingness to learn and undertake training is equally desirable.

We offer an ongoing CPD provision, regular staff-wellbeing events and access to a generous benefit package through Wiltshire Rewards.

An application pack can be downloaded from the vacancies page on our website www.hardenhuish.wilts.sch.uk or a completed application form cane be sent to HR@hardenhuish.wilts.sch.uk. Should you wish to discuss this role please contact Becky Dunn, Recruitment Manager on 01249 650693.

Closing date:     8.30am on Monday 9 December 2024

Hardenhuish School is an equal opportunities employer and requires enhanced DBS clearance as part of its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Our school is an 11-18 co-educational comprehensive school set in the magnificent parkland of the former Hardenhuish Manor and Chippenham Grammar School.

We enjoy an outstanding reputation locally and nationally as a ‘High Performing Specialist Academy’ being the first school in Wiltshire to take advantage of more local ‘quality control’ as part of the Coalition Government’s flagship academy scheme. At Hardenhuish we put children at the centre of all we do: we believe in a three way partnership with school, home and the individual, ensuring that each and every young person is ‘inspired to learn, supported to succeed’.

Our aim is that each Hardenhuish pupil not only achieves academic excellence, and the qualifications to take them to further or higher education and adult working life, but also take advantage of a myriad of social, personal and recreational enrichment opportunities. Our specialisms in Mathematics and Computing (since 2003) and Science (since April 2009) are complemented by our status as the only Lead School for Gifted and Talented learners in North Wiltshire, a status which recognises our exemplary provision for the most able pupils and our outreach programme which benefits the wider community.

The learning environment at Hardenhuish now boasts a Technology Centre, Sports Hall with climbing wall, English and Performing Arts Centre and two-storey Sixth Form Centre, along with the extensively redeveloped Science and Maths Centres, which means that our campus has some of the most impressive educational facilities in the County.
