Attenborough School are looking for a dynamic, passionate, and caring individual for whom our values and ethos resonate to become Assistant Headteacher in our school.

Attenborough School in Sennelager, Germany provides education for primary children from 2 – 11 years, with the possibility of further extension to the school to 13 years (Years 7 & 8). We are a rapidly growing school and at this time there are approximately 100 children on roll. Proudly providing education for the children of UK MOD personnel, our school operates in a pleasant part of a military garrison, surrounded by woods on generous real-estate. Due to increasing numbers of pupils on roll and predicted future growth, we are currently recruiting an Assistant Headteacher. Our school and the community need an inspiring Assistant Headteacher who can work in partnership with the Headteacher and all members of the school community to ensure the needs of the service children continue to be met; demonstrate our ‘WE CARE’ values and help the school to move forward in this exciting period of growth and expansion.

The purpose of the job is:

  • Lead and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, School improvement Plan, self-evaluation, practices, and procedures, so as to support the school’s WE CARE values and vision.
  • Lead on performance as line manager for colleagues, ensuring that they are supported, valued, and held to account for their performance.
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Support coordination of our Global Citizenship curriculum offer ensuring intent, implementation and impact is consistently successful across our school.
  • Lead and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of quality of education being achieved across the school.
  • Leading whole school events including regular assemblies, enhanced curriculum activities and parent workshops as required
  • Lead whole school improvement projects and areas of responsibility such as internal CPD assessment, induction processes and Safeguarding.
  • Undertaking a part-time teaching commitment.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the school's SEND strategy and policy.
  • Carry out assessments of pupils with SEND to identify needs and monitor progress - including observations in the classroom and meeting with teachers and parents.
  • Work with classroom teachers, the school leadership team, parents and relevant external agencies to develop, implement and monitor individual support/learning plans.
  • Provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meetings with parents.
  • Make referrals and liaise with professionals outside of the school such as educational psychologists, health and social care providers and speech, language therapists and educational social workers.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to classroom teachers on supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Support teachers to develop and implement effective teaching and behaviour management approaches in the classroom.
  • Develop and maintain systems for keeping pupil records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • Analyse school, local and national data and develop appropriate strategies and interventions.
