Job overview
A unique opportunity for motivated enthusiastic future leader, has opened up at our Potters Bar Clinic School. We are a part of Elysium Healthcare who own and run a large number of specialist provisions in the Health Care Sector. At present they own and run six CAMHS units specialising in psychiatric care for young people. All our schools are registered as Independent Special Schools. As such are registered with the DfE and regulated by Ofsted. Our last inspection was rated "GOOD" with OUTSTANDING for personal development. Potters Bar is a 18 bed unit classed as a Low Secure Unit for those aged twelve to eighteen. Class sizes are small 1 to 4 pupils enjoying a full curriculum. We use a QNIC recording system for pupil data which helps with work loads.
This is a full time post for an energetic person wishing to develop their skills as a senior leader. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, with hopefully some managerial experience. We would hope a lively and pleasant personality with empathy for those who find themselves sectioned under the mental health act. The young people in the hospitals care have differing length of stays as it depends on treatment and their response to it. Some stay and move on in a few weeks and some require longer stays.
Education for these young people is a very important part of their treatment. When well enough the patients attend school and are able to resume their studies. Often going on to take their GCSE's and A-Levels. As the patients health improves, the school helps with the transition from our school to their home school or college.
We are looking for someone to support the excellent work the Headteacher is doing in providing education to the young people. This is a full time position, benefiting from free lunches and well fare initiatives. You will be supported by a small specialist team and a wider hub of five other Deputy Heads across the CAMHS teams. There is training provided. All pupils and staff have access to lap tops and a well resourced school.
The roll is to support the Headteacher in managing the staff and school with responsivity for pupil reintegration to home schools or college. An ability to liaise with the medical team and attend multi disciplinary team meetings will also be a requirement. SENCO experience will be an advantage as this will form part of the roll. Other responsibilities will be discussed at interview. We like to use candidates unique talents where possible.
Work life balance is important to us, staff are given ample PPI time during the day so the expectation is no one takes work home with them and so no evening work. There are no parent evenings. Elysium are passionate about looking after the welfare of their employees.
If you feel you would like to be part of a small specialised team and feel you can make a difference to those in our care we would love to hear from you.
If you would like further information or wish to visit our school please call the Headteacher Janice Williams or School Admin on 01707858585 extension 221

Introduction
Potters Bar Clinic School is an Independent Special School regulated by Ofsted, that caters for up to 18 young people aged 13-18 years old. The school is based within a CAMHS Low Secure Psychiatric Hospital, supporting young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.
Potters Bar Clinic School is an integral part of the care and treatment programme, which encompasses a breadth of professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists and family therapists as part of the multi-disciplinary team. All young people admitted to the hospital are enrolled in this onsite provision. Young people attending our service will continue to study subjects chosen at their home school or college where possible.
Our aims and objectives
Our overarching objective is to ensure that all students at the school receive a curriculum that whilst maintaining its breadth, is personalised to meet every individual’s needs within the context of assisting in the care and treatment programme facilitated in conjunction with the hospital.
Our aim is to deliver a bespoke, high quality learning experience akin to that which students are familiar within their current or previous educational setting. No student will be allowed to feel left behind with their studies or unable to access their chosen subjects because of being in hospital.
Collaboration
We work closely with the team at the hospital to provide a holistic programme which meets the needs of every student. We use the hospital admission process to address any gaps in a young person’s knowledge and help students by addressing any educational challenges that they may face. Fostering resilience, independence and confidence in a young person’s attitude towards their studies is key to our success and all are encouraged to maintain a healthy balance between their studies and well-being.
Environment
Our school environment is located on the hospital site and is a welcoming, bright space that fosters learning. The classroom environment is designed to meet the specific learning needs of our students.
Many of our students enjoy contributing to their learning area with inspiring quotations and creative pieces of artwork. The school is a calm and purposeful environment, supported by our high standards and expectations in areas such as behaviour and attendance.
Our Values
Our values are: Kindness, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence. Our values were created in partnership with those we support, their families, and our people. Our values are our standards which we will uphold each and every day.
We are committed to providing an environment in which all students can feel safe, happy, accepted and confident, so that they are able to develop to their full potential and successfully return to education in the community.
