A fabulous opportunity has arisen to appoint an existing or aspiring senior leader as our Deputy Headteacher at Minehead First School for a fixed term contract to cover Maternity Leave. Their work will directly correlate with that of the senior leadership team, strategically coordinating roles to meet the school priorities and aims. The direct responsibility of the post will be discussed and structured based on the experience and expertise of the applicant. You will be joining a dynamic and supportive team who are individually and collectively passionate about the learning and progress of our students and who provide an excellent source of support and inspiration.

This is an essential role impacting on the lives of children through delivering high quality teaching and learning. We are seeking to employ someone with a proven SEND background, including how to adapt learning for pupils who may be vulnerable to underachievement or have SEND. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the SEND strategy for Minehead First School.

The Successful Candidate must:

·        Promote a culture of encouragement, support and challenge in which each child can achieve and outstrip the highest possible educational standards, realising their full potential

·        Ensure the Quality of Education and pastoral provision, (dependent on experience and expertise of applicant), offer at the school bridges and supports the early years journey effectively using up to date research and evidence to inform choice sand decisions.

·        Analyse and interpret relevant data at national, local and school level

·        Use this data alongside internal quality assurance methods to plan effective interventions and CPD for staff to improve the achievement, experience and outcomes for the pupils

·        Establish effective systems for assessment, including diagnostic approaches with intervention strategies

·        Inform the Senior Leadership Team and governing body about the effectiveness of provision for pupils regularly

·        Use financial and resource management innovatively and effectively; Identifying resources needed to meet the needs of pupils and advise the head teacher of priorities for expenditure

We can offer a comprehensive induction and targeted CPD as well as a number of opportunities to deliver across a wide range of subject areas moving forward, as well as opportunities to work into the wider trust.
