Job Overview:

As the Design & Technology Technician at Safa Community School, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head of Design & Technology in providing a dynamic and innovative learning environment.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with woodworking tools, metal fabrication, 3D printing, and proficiency in CAD software.

Familiarity with CNC machinery and software is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will already be resident in Dubai.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise:

  • Utilise woodworking tools and demonstrate proficiency in metal fabrication techniques. Operate and maintain 3D printers, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Utilise CAD software to assist students in conceptualising and designing projects.
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery and software is an advantage.


Student Support:

  • Work closely with A-Level and GCSE students to guide and support their design concepts.
  • Provide technical assistance during practical sessions, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with Key Stage 3 pupils, fostering creativity and enthusiasm for Design & Technology.


Material Management:

  • Track and monitor all Design & Technology supplies and materials.
  • Ensure stock levels are maintained to meet the demands of ongoing projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers to procure necessary materials within budget constraints.


Workshop Maintenance:

  • Maintain and upkeep all equipment and machinery in the Design & Technology workshops.
  • Conduct regular checks, servicing, and repairs to ensure the longevity of tools and machines.
  • Ensure workshops are kept safe and clean, adhering to health and safety standards.


Health and Safety:

  • Enforce and adhere to health and safety guidelines in the workshop.
  • Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and machinery.


Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and inventory.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of Design & Technology events and exhibitions.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in using woodworking tools and metal fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency in 3D printing, CAD software, and ideally CNC machinery and software.
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
