We have an exciting opportunity to join Pyrland School as a Design and Technology Technician. As a Design and Technology Technician, you will support the smooth running of the wood, metal and plastic workshop lessons in the Design & Technology faculty. Preparing teaching resources, maintaining equipment and the teaching environment to a high standard, and supporting the teachers in lessons, all of which enhances the learning experience for students. Maintaining & inspecting the specialist workshop machinery. Candidates must have some knowledge of working with machine tools such as chop saw, circular saws and band saws. 

The academy is on a journey of improvement and has a strong staff team in place to ensure every child reaches beyond their potential. We have excellent pastoral support, and our students report that they feel very happy and safe at the school. We are proud of our students. The relationships between staff and students are strong and behaviour is excellent. Community engagement is also an important feature; a recent poll showed a high degree of parental satisfaction.

The Taunton Academy, sponsored by the outstanding Richard Huish Trust, is an 11-16 academy in the north of Taunton. With modern, impressive facilities, the academy currently caters for approximately 830 students, with an increasing roll anticipated to see numbers rise to in the region of 1200 over the next few years. 

·        Salary: Grade 15 Point 2-4 £22,366 FTE-£23,114 FTE depending on experience

·        Actual Salary: based on 19.5hrs £10,093-£10,431

·        Hours: 19.5 hrs per week term time only (39 weeks per year)

Pyrland School (formerly The Taunton Academy) is a secondary school (11 – 16), located on the outskirts of Taunton with approximately 830 students on roll. We are rapidly growing in terms of pupil numbers and this is forecast to continue over the coming years until we reach capacity (1200). We are the first academy to have joined the Richard Huish Trust, with exceptionally close links to the Richard Huish College – an outstanding sixth form college at the heart of the Taunton community.
