Role Overview

To achieve the vision, mission and goals of AISJ, provides leadership and support to the academic community of AISJ by ensuring a quality PreK-12 curriculum, aligning instructional & assessment practices across the school, and creating the conditions for improvement and learning among the academic staff. Unifies through collaboration the academic vision and implementation across AISJ.

implements the curricular program and processes for monitoring and performing educational audits to ensure that curriculum and assessment priorities are appropriately pursued.

Aligns written & taught curriculum and reporting structures so that there is a common methodology school-wide.

Monitors and evaluates teaching and learning through a program of curriculum observation, including mutual observation and work scrutiny.

Implements high-impact strategies leading to optimal education and instructional results.

Plans curriculum and assessment service budget planning guidelines and expenditure control strategies.

Creates public and community relations programs pertaining to curriculum and assessment planning and development processes.

Provides leadership and expertise in guiding and advising task forces and advisory committees and groups.

In collaboration with the instructional staff, evaluates the selection of textbooks and instructional materials and equipment.

Implements instructional priorities and procedures for schools.

Supervises the performance of assigned personnel (for example, instructional coaches)

Implements and ensures alignment of the school’s educational programs (for example: AERO standards, Next Generation Science Skills, and 21st Century learning in the elementary and middle school programs, and AP and IB in the high school), providing the support necessary for each site to be successful in having all students achieve at high levels.

Shares good practice with colleagues, leading by example and promoting high standards in the delivery of the curriculum; 

Is proactive and interested in keeping the school up-to-date over the latest educational issues, attending courses and conferences as appropriate; 

Oversees and aligns substitute procedures and expectations across AISJ.

Encourages high teaching standards and to act as a role model to colleagues, in and out of the classroom.

Develops the classroom practice of teachers at the school to ensure the highest possible academic standards; 

Supports colleagues in the promotion of high standards in each subject area; 

Works closely with the Director of Technology and instructional leadership to ensure that technology plays a vital role in the delivery of the curriculum.

Conducts mini-observations of all teachers under the guidance of the principals. 

Unifies learning support, all divisions, and the school’s enrichment programs for a common goal.  

In collaboration with the academic leadership, ensures that the curriculum is both accessible and challenging for all scholars.

Coordinates professional learning within the school for all educators
