We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mandarin-speaking Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teacher to support our Mandarin-speaking students as they develop their English language skills. This unique role is designed for an educator passionate about bilingual education and skilled in fostering language acquisition within a caring, child-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • English Language Development: Support Mandarin-speaking students in acquiring English language skills through immersive, play-based learning that is both engaging and age-appropriate.
  • Bilingual Communication: Bridge Mandarin and English learning by delivering lessons and activities that encourage vocabulary building, listening, and speaking skills in English, while respecting each child’s cultural background.
  • Inclusive Learning Environment: Create a nurturing and welcoming classroom where children feel confident to explore, take risks, and express themselves, helping them to build a strong foundation for bilingual language skills.

Skills Required

  • Early Years Language Support: Experience working with young children, particularly in supporting English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, within a play-based curriculum.
  • Bilingual Teaching: Proficiency in both Mandarin and English to facilitate a seamless learning experience, encouraging children to use and understand English in meaningful contexts.
  • Classroom Engagement: Ability to develop creative, language-focused activities that captivate young learners and encourage both personal and linguistic growth.

Personal Attributes

  • Patient and Supportive: A caring individual who understands the unique challenges of learning a new language and fosters a reassuring, patient environment for language development.
  • Culturally Sensitive: Respectful and understanding of cultural backgrounds, with the ability to celebrate diversity within the classroom and school community.
  • Creative and Adaptable: A flexible educator who is skilled in using a variety of interactive methods to support English language acquisition.

Additional Advantage

  • Knowledge of UK EYFS Statutory Framework: Familiarity with the EYFS statutory framework and Development Matters document, understanding the milestones for language development and assessment in a UK curriculum international school early years setting.
