Exam Invigilator

Contract: Casual

Salary: Grade 2 SP3 (£11.78 per hour plus holiday pay)

Start date: As soon as possible

Newmarket Academy is a good school (Ofsted 2023) with a commitment to excellence. We aim to be the best we can be in all areas and are committed to being the best school in the area.

We are looking to appoint Exam Invigilators to provide supervision in all internal and public exams that our students sit. These take place in January (over a two-week period) and May/June (over an eight-week period). Invigilators may also be required to supervise exams at other times of the year. Newmarket Academy is part of Unity Schools Partnership a forward-thinking academy trust of 39 schools.

We value our people and we have developed a strong culture of collaboration and best practice. This is a casual, part-time role and working hours for each exam season will be agreed in advance. Successful candidates will work as part of a supportive team and should be punctual, have good communication skills and be able to work with secure materials in a confidential setting.

Duties will include:

  • Helping to prepare the exam room
  • Distributing and collecting exam papers
  • Assisting students entering and leaving the exam venue
  • Dealing with and recording any problems that arise during the exam
  • Observing and checking student behaviour during exams
  • Reading and/or scribing for students in exams

No previous experience is necessary as full exam procedure training and safeguarding training will be provided. If you would like any further information about this post, please do not hesitate to get in touch by contacting Lucy Jones, Data and Exams Manager on 01638 664412 or email lucy.jones@newmarketacademy.co.uk

Closing date: 9:00am, 31st October 2024

Interviews: TBC

Please note: we may hold interviews as and when applications are received and we reserve the right to offer to a candidate prior to the closing date. We only accept applications submitted online via our careers website and which are completed before the closing deadline. With this in mind, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible and advise you check the job information as per the listing on our careers site.

In line with safer recruitment, we are unable to accept CVs. Failure to complete an application form satisfactorily may result in not being shortlisted for the post.

Unity Schools Partnership is committed to safer recruitment, equal opportunities, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.

We care deeply about inclusive working practices and diverse teams. If you’d prefer to work part-time or as a job-share, we’ll facilitate this wherever we can – whether to help you meet other commitments or to help you strike a great work-life balance. We’re keen to ensure we’re designing an organisation that works for everyone, so we particularly encourage applications from different under-represented groups.

Unity Schools Partnership, welcoming diversity.

Newmarket Academy is now part of Unity Schools Partnership, a multi-academy group responsible for the running of a number of secondary, special and primary schools.

Principal

Mr Martin Witter

Our Vision

Our vision is that Newmarket Academy will be an excellent school.  We strive to be the best we can be in all areas.  We aim to be the school of choice, serving the local area, and an excellent school in the Unity Schools Partnership.

Ofsted

“Students feel safe and they get on well with each other and the staff. n Students are polite and helpful to visitors. The change of status from a 13 to 19 college to an 11 to 19 college was well planned and carried out. A wide range of activities outside lessons, including assemblies, contributes well to students’ personal development.”
