Together the Group forms a Sixth Form, Skills and Technology Centre, University Centre, employer training and adult learning provider delivering exceptional teaching and learning to all ages and at all levels.

The Exciting Role 

A new and exciting opportunity has become available to join our dynamic and friendly Exams and Registry Team. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated Exams Assistant to be part of our growing team. The role will be based at the Nelson & Colne College site, on a part time, permanent basis working 29.6 hrs per week. 

•   Processing exam entries for a full range of qualifications delivered within the organisation, being aware of the requirements of individual awarding bodies and liaising with tutors to resolve any queries arising.

•   Assisting in the timely processing of registration and certificate claim forms in order that deadlines are met, timely apprentices are finalised and all results are processed onto the ILR to maximise achievement and funding.

•   Ensuring that functional skills tests delivered across the organisation are processed in a timely way; receiving and checking entries from tutors; processing with the appropriate awarding body; liaising with tutors to resolve any queries. Ordering online tests via the portal; ordering paper-based tests and overseeing their distribution and receipt once the tests have taken place. 

•   Acting as a point of contact with academic staff to aid the resolution of examination queries.

•   Receiving certificates from awarding bodies and processing receipts onto EBS; notifying students and keeping processes under constant review with the aim of eliminating paper communications. Making sure certificates are stored correctly in the appointed locations for students to collect in person, and dealing with any queries which arise. 

•   Adhering to all Awarding Body and external organisation regulations and deadlines.

•   Supporting the Exams Team Leader with the various exam activities throughout the year with regards to preparing of exam papers and invigilation.

What We Are Looking For:

•   4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above or equivalent experience and knowledge 

•   Experience of working on and inputting data on a computerised information system 

•   Good working knowledge and practical experience of using Excel (desirable) 

•   Experience of MIS and Registry procedures (desirable) 

•   Experience of the EBS student records systems (desirable) 

•   Experience of working in an exams office (desirable)

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
