St. Mary’s School is a co-educational day school, for children from 3 to 11 years old, set in a beautiful residential area in Henley-on-Thames. Small classes of around 16 children, which allow the individual child to flourish and high academic standards to be achieved in a friendly, caring, enthusiastic and stimulating environment.

Proud of our reputation for delivering academic excellence – the attainment of St. Mary’s pupils is above national age-related expectations in all subjects, and our more able pupils are challenged and stretched with a range of classroom work and additional activities.

About the role

Reporting to the School Operations Manager, as the Facilities Manager, you will play an integral role in the safe and efficient running of Long Close and St Mary's, ensuring that the facilities and grounds deliver a brilliant student, colleague and parent experience. You will be responsible for ensuring that the schools are well maintained, and the infrastructure, facilities and equipment are safe, secure and fit for purpose. Additionally, you will ensure full compliance with our legal obligations and the smooth operations of the estates.

As the ideal candidate, you will be someone is will take pride in how the schools are presented, have a can-do attitude to fixing things when needed.

This is a permanent, full-time role. Within this role, you will work across both Long Close & St Mary's with your primary work location being at Long Close. This role is immediately available.

Who we are looking for: 

  • A degree or vocational qualifications in facilities management, H&S (IOSH) etc
  • Experience of managing facilities, ideally across multiple sites/locations 
  • Experience of managing large complex events
  • A self-starter who can operate with autonomy and learns quickly
  • Practical skills are desirable: these may include carpentry, painting and decorating and plumbing repairs within own capability and in line with agreed health and safety procedures and guidelines

The school was founded in 1940 and after a series of developments over the decades was bought by Cognita, the largest independent schools business in the UK, in 2004. The senior school opened in September 2006.
