Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our safeguarding team. The successful candidate will work closely with parents, carers, and the pastoral team to support children in accessing educational opportunities and improving attendance. This role is crucial in promoting effective home-school relationships and supporting our school's development plan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with leadership and pastoral teams to foster effective home-school relationships.
  • Develop and implement action plans for children needing support, ensuring strong communication with families.
  • Build one-to-one relationships with children to help them achieve their goals.
  • Stay informed about support systems and services that can benefit families and maximize learning opportunities.
  • Assist with administrative duties related to student attendance and the TAC process.
  • Promote high-quality parenting through home visits, drop-in sessions, and support groups.
  • Provide guidance on Early Help services and local support networks to parents/carers.
  • Attend meetings and case conferences, acting as a school representative for child protection.
  • Maintain accurate records of actions and feedback to relevant staff.
  • Analyze and report on attendance data, working with the leadership team to improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to school events and support the school's ethos and commitment to safeguarding.
  • Engage with families affected by various issues, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Support children and families creatively through activities and events.
  • Work collaboratively with Children’s Social Care and other professional networks.


Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role supporting children, young people, and families.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
