Job overview

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and dynamic Geography Teacher / History Teacher who is a Jordanian native to inspire and educate our students. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of geographical and historical concepts, as well as the ability to create engaging and interactive lessons that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning.

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive Geography and History curriculum that aligns with the International Baccalaureate (IB) or British National Curriculum standards. Tailor lessons to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special educational needs.
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Prepare and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that engage students and promote understanding of complex concepts. Use a variety of instructional techniques, including project-based learning, group work, and technology integration, to enhance student learning.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Develop and implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate student progress. Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and areas for improvement.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that fosters respect, collaboration, and enthusiasm for learning. Implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere.
  • Student Support: Identify and support students' individual learning needs, providing additional resources and guidance as necessary. Foster strong relationships with students to encourage their personal and academic growth.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development through workshops, seminars, and peer collaboration. Stay updated on the latest educational trends and methodologies in Geography and History education.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members to enhance the educational experience of students. Participate in school events, committees, and extracurricular activities to promote a strong school community.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation. Prepare reports and participate in staff meetings and parent-teacher conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, History, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certification: Valid teaching certification or license for secondary education.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in Geography and/or History at the secondary level, preferably in an international school setting.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) or British National Curriculum.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students and collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.

Language Proficiency:

  • Proficient in English; native Jordanian speakers are preferred.
