The Crescendo Help International School is now seeking to appoint a suitably-experienced in Humanities Subject.


Requirements: 

An enthusiastic teacher of Humanities is required to teach History and Geography also able to teach Geography to IGCSE to join a team of four full time specialist teachers. Candidates must have a related degree and PGCE with a minimum of 4-5 years post-qualification experience. We currently have a strong team, and we are hoping to add to our current expertise. The commerce subjects are part also part of our Humanities faculty.


Key Responsibilities:

 a) Strategic Direction and Development of the Subject: 

  • develop and implement policies and practices which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement through effective teaching and learning; 
  • motivate and support other staff and encourages a shared understanding of the contribution they can make to all aspects of students’ lives; 
  • use relevant school, local and national data to inform targets for development and further improvement for individuals and groups of students; 
  • develop plans for the subject which identify clear targets, times-scales and success criteria for its development and/or maintenance in line with the school development/improvement plan; 
  • monitor progress and evaluate the effects on teaching and learning by working alongside colleagues, analysing work and outcomes; 
  • arrange at least one meeting a month with Secondary Staff in your Department: giving feedback to the SLT on these developments. 


b) To ensure the highest quality of Learning and Teaching: 

  • modelling high-quality learning and teaching in the subject and with groups; 
  • ensure continuity and progression in the subject by supporting colleagues in choosing the appropriate sequence of teaching and teaching methods and set clear learning objectives through an agreed scheme of work; 
  • establish clear targets for achievement in the subject and evaluate progress through the use of appropriate assessments and records and regular yearly analysis of this data with the Assistant Principal Primary and Assistant Principal Secondary; 
  • develop effective links with the local community as appropriate; 
  • ensure that teachers are aware of the implications of equality of opportunity which the subject raises. 


c) Leading and Managing Staff: 

  • enable all teachers to achieve expertise in planning for and teaching the subject through

     modelling, supporting and by leading or providing high quality professional development 

     opportunities;

  • ensure that the SLT and Governors are well informed about policies, plans, priorities and targets for the subject. 


d) Effective Deployment of Resources: 

  • support the School by maintaining efficient and effective management and organisation of learning resources, by developing or identifying new resources to the subject; 
  • be aware of and respond appropriately to any health and safety issues raised by materials, practice or accommodation related to the subject; 
  • support the School by maintaining efficient and effective management of expenditure for the subject; 
  • help colleagues create a stimulating learning environment for the subject; 
  • take on any additional responsibilities which might from time to time be reasonably determined.


Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree/Professional Degree in a related field plus a teaching certificate ie. PGCE.
  • At least 4-5 years experience of teaching either Geography or History to IGCSE.
  • Professional written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team of multinational staff.
  • Must have efficient organisational and IT skills.
  • A thorough knowledge of best Learning and Teaching practice is essential.
  • A willingness to contribute to the life of the school is essential
