Job overview

As part of the growth of the School, we are looking for a dynamic Head of Geography to direct the development of the Geography Department within the Humanities faculty. The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with the Humanities team and will work very closely with the Senior Deputy Head responsible for Humanities for the mutual benefit of the School.

We are particularly keen to appoint an individual with a well-established track record of excellent GSCE and A Level results over a sustained period. The Geography department regularly achieve 25% of A Level grades at A/A* and 15% of GCSE grades at 8/9 The ideal candidate will have the skills and enthusiasm to maintain and improve on these averages. In addition, knowledge and experience of all or most of the following, would be welcome:

  • AQA Geography at GCSE 8035 Living with the physical environment and challenges in the Human environment
  • OCR Geography at A level H481 Human and Physical

About Thomas Telford School

Thomas Telford School is a mixed, non-denominational, mainstream school with sixth form, situated in Telford, Shropshire. The school admits students aged 11-18 and has a reputation for outstanding GCSE results. In 2014, 100% of Year 11 students gained five or more A*-C GCSE passes. 

Thomas Telford School was formed as a City Technology College in 1991 specialising in mathematics, technology and science. It is sponsored by The Mercers’ Company and Tarmac Holdings Limited. It is also a member of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. It is now widely regarded as one of the most successful state secondary schools in England.
