Job overview
JOB PURPOSE
- Implement and deliver an ambitious, appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students in a bilingual school in collaboration with the NAE Julliard curriculum
- Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor
- To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual creative potential
- To contribute to raising standards of student attainment
- To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Engagement and Interaction – School Ambassador to Internal Community
- Inspire trust and confidence in students, colleagues and parents;
- Engage and motivate students;
- Communicate effectively with parents of students as appropriate, following agreed policies for communications in the school;
- Contribute positively to the morale and community spirit of them school;
- Assist in whole school marketing initiatives and contribute to the growth of the school;
Learning and Teaching
- Implement and deliver an ambitious, appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated performance curriculum for students;
- Use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and demands of the syllabus;
- Positively targeting and supporting individual learning needs;
- Maintaining high levels of behaviour and discipline;
- Using modern educational technology to enhance learning opportunities;
- Making use of Nord Anglia Education’s online Global Campus;
- Establish a purposeful and safe learning environment for all students;
- Mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback, as required.
Pastoral
- To be a form tutor to an assigned group of students;
- Support the life of the school beyond the classroom;
- Lead one or more extra-curricular activities each week;
- Participate in residential weeks and other trips as appropriate;
- Contribute to whole school learning initiatives during term;
- To undertake assessment of students as requested by external examination bodies, Departmental and School procedures.
Planning and Preparation
- Planning effective teaching programmes which provide exemplary learning opportunities within and beyond the classroom;
- Effectively using homework and other extra-curricular learning opportunities;
- Make effective use of formative and summative assessment to plan challenging learning opportunities for all students;
- Assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as required;
- Report on progress to appropriate stakeholders.
Quality Assurance
- Implement school quality procedures and adhere to these;
- Contribute to the process of monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum area in line with the agreed school procedures, including evaluation against quality standards and performance
- criteria;
- Contribute to the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organisation and pastoral functions of the school.
Professional and Personal Development
- Engage purposefully with the School’s staff development programme by participating in arrangements for professional development;
- Continue professional development in the relevant areas, including subject knowledge and teaching methods;
- Engage actively with the performance management process.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS – Skills Knowledge and Experience
- Qualified to degree level in relevant subject or above
- Qualified teacher status
- Proven track record with at least two years’ teaching experience in performing arts disciplines
- Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage students and enable them to perform highly
- Experience of delivering an Internationally recognised curriculum
- Experience of working in partnership with parents
- Essential oral and written communication skills
- Ability to engage students and enable them to perform highly
- Experience of delivering the IIMYC / IBDP
