Further Information About BSB

The school has experienced sustained growth and now incorporates EYFS, Primary and Secondary School to Year 12 with 400 pupils on roll. Year 13 will begin in August 2025.
Our long term objective is to establish a double-form entry school of approximately 600 pupils.
Our curriculum is a unique aspect of our school. While its foundations are British it is designed to support the personal development of pupils more fully and offer a broader curriculum experience incorporating enhanced elements of pupil choice.
The English National Curriculum provides the structure of our core curriculum in English, Maths and Science from EYFS to Year 11. All pupils study Portuguese and are expected to achieve a qualification in that subject.
All pupils enjoy compulsory lessons in humanities, sports and the arts ensuring coverage of both the ENC and Brazilian curriculum requirements.
We provide IGCSE qualifications in Years 10 and 11 and the IB Diploma in Years 12 and 13.
First time visitors to our school often comment on the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that our community has established. We believe strongly that all stakeholders should enjoy positive relationships.
The British School of Brasilia is part of the British School Foundation, a well regarded organisation with a proven track record of establishing high quality schools across the world.

The British School is a member of COBIS, which provides access to a range of opportunities for staff and pupils alike. The vision of all BSF schools is to complete successful external accreditations and BSO inspections on a regular cycle to ensure that our educational quality is of the highest possible standard.
Our students are bright, motivated and talented individuals drawn from both internationally minded Brazilian families and a range of international backgrounds and our curriculum reflects this.
Our staff work very hard but are well rewarded personally and professionally. As a result, many of our teachers gain a strong affinity for the school and stay for several years. BSF believes strongly in developing talent from within and many of our Heads initially joined the foundation as teachers.
The British School of Brasilia is an exciting and enriching place to work. We look forward to welcoming our next Head of Secondary School and continuing to build a school of which we can all be proud.

History and Ethos
The British School of Brasilia (BSB) is one of the leading international schools in Brasilia offering contemporary British international education to students in Early Years and Primary School. Since opening in 2016, BSB has become the school of choice for expatriate and Brazilian parents looking to provide their children with highest levels of education.
The school forms part of The British Schools Foundation (BSF), an established family of 10 schools that extend across the world in Asia, South America and Europe. We view character development as an essential part of our work. We rely on teachers with the experience to nurture independence of mind, resilience, and a caring disposition in our pupils.
Location and Facilities
BSB is located in the exclusive district of Lago Sul. The school enjoys a spacious, green, clean-air environment, located in the heart of the city’s schools quarter. The building itself was designed by renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer and also features murals by artist Athos Bulcão.
The buildings offer visually impressive and inspiring learning environments, with playgrounds and facilities that are age appropriate, safe and enjoyable. The accompanying facilities match that of any top international school, not only in terms quality, but also in how they enhance the education we provide.
Career Development and Benefits
A career with BSB offers all the opportunities associated with a dynamic, global organisation. We offer an excellent salary and benefits package, including housing, international medical cover, annual flights, relocation allowance and bursaries for accompanying children.
We also provide fantastic learning and continuing professional development opportunities, both within the school and across The British Schools Foundation network. Many of our teachers have been with BSF for many years, have experienced working in several countries and have developed their careers within the organisation.
The Future
BSB currently offers education up to Year 11 with plans to open an additional year group in each new academic year to Year 13. In an increasingly competitive market, BSB continues to strengthen its ambition of being the region’s most respected and highest achieving school.
