ADNOC Schools is currently seeking to recruit to the position of Head of STEM and join our growing family of owned and operated schools in the UAE. The current vacancy is a senior role, based in ADNOC Schools and will support and work with all four of our campuses. ADNOC Schools are Massachusetts State Curriculum schools and provide high-quality learning environments in Abu Dhabi City and the Western Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate. This position will be for an January 2025 start.
Successful candidates will combine an excellent track record of effective leadership experience, developed in the UK, USA or other international settings, with strong inter-personal skills and cultural awareness with the ability to manage the demands and needs of a wide range of stakeholders from Board level to parents, teachers and Principals. Exceptional communication skills combined with being a visible leader and ambassador for the school are pivotal to this role.
The role requires high level strategic thinking combined with a firm grasp of how to ensure outstanding education outcomes across the school. Candidates must be committed to working in partnership with other schools within the group and developing ways to engage with strategic partners to support the work of the school, the group as a whole and the UAE’s wider education vision.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Development
· The Head of STEM should design and develop a comprehensive STEM curriculum, it's crucial to align with educational standards and best practices. This includes integrating cross-disciplinary approaches that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity among students. By staying updated with advancements in STEM education, educators can incorporate relevant technologies and methodologies into the curriculum, ensuring students are well-prepared for the rapidly evolving fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Instructional Leadership:
· The Head of STEM should provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective STEM teaching strategies and conduct regular observations, evaluations, and professional development sessions to improve teaching quality. Foster a collaborative and innovative teaching environment that inspires both students and educators.
· Oversee all STEM-related programs, activities, and events within the school.
· Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of STEM concepts across the curriculum.
· Develop assessment tools and benchmarks that include Improved MAP and EmSAT/AP scores to measure student achievement and progress in STEM subjects.
· Analyse data and utilize assessment results to drive continuous improvement in STEM programs.
· Ensure equitable access and opportunities for all students to excel in STEM fields.
Partnerships and Outreach
· Build and maintain partnerships with external organizations, universities, and industry professionals to enrich STEM education
· Organize STEM-related workshops, guest lectures, and career exploration opportunities for students.
· Help students to obtain STEM Scholarships
· Engage parents, alumni, and the wider community in supporting STEM initiatives and promoting awareness.
· Manage resources, budget allocation, and procurement of materials and equipment for STEM initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Essential
· Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field (Master's degree preferred), with PGCE or another teacher qualification
· Master’s degree in Education
· Leadership/Management
· Administrative/Leadership certification
· Demonstrable experience managing College Board Programming
Minimum Experience
· 6 years’ experience, including 4 consecutive years of teaching performance exceeds standards and expectations as evidenced by Performance Appraisal
Job Specific Knowledge & Skills
· Teaching certification and significant experience in STEM education.
· Leadership experience in a school setting or educational institution.
· Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment strategies.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
· Passion for promoting STEM education and inspiring students to pursue careers in STEM fields.
· Show work flexibility
· A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
