Brookes Moscow International Day & Boarding School is searching for a highly professional and experienced Male House Parent. The Boarding House of Brookes Moscow is situated inside the Huaming Complex, on secure floors and offers premium boarding facilities for its students, aged 10 – 18 (Years 5 – 13).

House Master/House parent need to be supportive adult presence reporting to the House Parents to assist with and contribute to the supervision and care of the students with responsibility for the health and general wellbeing of those in the House under the direction of the Head of Boarding. The Assistant Housemaster/mistress needs to maintain a safe, happy, and supportive community. It is expected that House staff participate fully in School training and professional development.

Requirements

  • Education & work experience: Higher education with preferable relevant experience in a similar role. Sound knowledge of national and international boarding standards. Up-to-date child protection and safeguarding knowledge. Experience in accompanying students on excursions and overseas trips desirable.
  • Specialty: BSA/First Aid/Coaching/Previous mentoring or counselling experience desirable.
  • IT Skills: Ability to proficiently use Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Be able to work with different browser-based management information and administration system.
  • Personal: High levels of integrity, commitment, flexibility, organization, and responsibility with a genuine love of children and young people. The role entails a high level of working within a professional team.
  • Language: English

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, comfortable environment within the boarding house to ensure health and safety of students always
  • Show non-intrusive interest in all aspects of student’s school life, passing on any discipline issues to the Head of Boarding
  • Be available always for students to communicate, ensuring any disclosures are immediately passed onto the Head of Boarding/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) in line with the School Safeguarding policy
  • Ensure daily routines for students is maintained, particularly wake up, mealtimes & bedtimes
  • Ensure health and safety is a priority in the boarding house
  • Ensure linen changes are undertaken on a weekly basis as per Rota
  • In association with the other House staff ensure tidiness of student’s dorms are checked and monitored, reporting any issues to relevant staff
  • To monitor student dress code and issues of cleanliness, reporting any concerns to relevant staff
  • Accompany students to the School Medical Centre if safe to do so
  • To contribute to full pastoral reports twice a year written by the Housemistress
  • Ensure timely reporting of any serious issues immediately to the Head of Boarding & Pastoral Care/DSL
  • Attend daily meetings with team to ensure effective communication is maintained
  • Attend regular Boarding and Pastoral meetings as required by the Head of Boarding
  • Signs of student behaviour, health, or welfare serious issues immediately to the Head of Boarding/ DSL
  • Communicate with parents in consultation with Housemaster/mistress
  • To contribute to the induction arrangements for students with other staff
  • Participate fully in the life of the boarding house including induction
  • Ensure cleanliness, health and safety issues are reported immediately to the Operations Team
  • Be available to escort external service personnel
  • Along with other staff ensure the House is ready to receive students at the beginning of each semester
  • Contribute to the end of semester clearing up, cleaning schedules & dorm checks reporting issues to the Operations team
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care
  • Complete the daily handover, student fire list and numbers when on duty
  • Maintain administrative tasks as required
  • Collect and collate exeats
