Thank you for your interest in the post of KS3 Science Lead at Haberdashers’ Hatcham College – the founding school in Haberdashers’ Academies Trust South.
We are looking for an outstanding KS3 Science Lead with the expertise, confidence and enthusiasm to develop and raise standards of student achievement and to support student progress.
Key responsibilities
Teaching & Learning and Assessment
·To ensure an engaging curriculum is developed to inspire, support and challenge all students at Key Stage 3.
·To develop and quality assure the implementation plans, resources and assessments within the department and ensure they successfully develop knowledge, understanding and skills at all levels of ability.
·To ensure assessments are rigorous and fit for purpose and that assessment feedback is instrumental in raising achievement.
·To analyse Key Stage data effectively and put actions in place that raise levels of teaching and learning, develop the curriculum sustainably and raise student engagement and progress.
·To oversee skill development across the Key Stage.
·To monitor the quality of Teaching and Learning within the department, conducting learning walks, work scrutiny and lesson observations when required
Curriculum
·To ensure that the curriculum reflects the needs of students and the aims and objectives of the school, as well as best preparing all students for their relevant KS4 pathway.
·To support the Head of Science in producing an annual curriculum overview for the faculty outlining assessment opportunities and how they will be used to raise achievement.
·To lead on the development and running of KS3 within Science, reporting to the Head of Science, creating intervention strategies to improve achievement in both the short and long term
·To support the Head of Science to effectively manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources within the Science curriculum
·To support the Director of Learning to plan a range of enrichment opportunities across the faculty and measure the impact on student's personal development and achievement.
Outcomes for Students
To analyse and evaluate all relevant available data in order to set targets for individual students and classes/teachers
To support the Head of Science to raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the whole curriculum area and to monitor and support student progress
To support the Head of Science in ensuring that effective intervention is put in place for students who are underachieving
