Learning Support Assistant


The Vale Academy is looking for enthusiastic and proactive Learning Support Assistant to work within our Academy. You will need to be able to support children with a range of needs including autistic spectrum disorder, speech and language difficulties and medical needs. You may need to attend to personal care needs and implement related personal programmes, including hygiene, physical, first aid and medical matters, this will be supported by the school’s intimate care policy.  The successful candidate will be supported with appropriate continuous professional development.

This Learning Support Assistant role will be working with a lovely, supportive team.

Key Duties:

  • Raise student attainment so that all students successfully progress through the school to further and higher education and quality employment.
  •       Support all staff to achieve high standards of teaching and learning.
  •      Model the highest professional standards to staff and students in all aspects of the role, maintaining a visible presence around the Academy and leading by example.
  •      Ensure that the personal and social development of students results in responsible and active citizens graduating from the Academy.
  •      In collaboration with others, review the impact of actions taken and respond accordingly.
  •      Play a key role in ensure effective implementation of the school’s safeguarding and equal opportunities policies.


The successful candidate will have;

·       Previous experience working with children/young people

·       Experience of working in an educational setting

·       Experience of planning and leading small group teaching/interventions desirable

·       Good knowledge of SEN

·       Good IT skills (with good knowledge of Microsoft applications e.g. word, excel, etc)

·       Good literacy and numeracy skills

·       Excellent communication skills

·       Team player and the ability to be able to build effective relationships with both colleagues and students

·        Able to work using initiative


Job Specifics:

Start date: Asap

Salary: NJC L1b 2-3 £22,366-£22,737 FTE. Actual pro rata salary £15,790-£16,052

Contract: Full time, Permanent, Term time + inset days, 8.45am-3.15pm, 30 mins lunch, 30 hours per week
