The Role

Are you passionate, supportive, and looking to make a difference to vulnerable young people’s lives? If the answer is yes, an exciting opportunity exists to join our classroom support team at SupaJam, one of the country’s most exciting education providers. With so many of our young people having previously fallen out of formal education we use their passion for music to reignite their desire to learn and achieve. To continue the growth and educational excellence of the organisation we are now seeking additional Learning Support Practitioners (LSP) to join our team. Answering to the Vocational Coordinator, our LSPs are an integral part of our organisation as they provide exceptional support to students and teachers in and outside of the classroom.

About SupaJam Education in Music and Media (SupaJam)

SupaJam is a unique group of Post-16 specialist music colleges based in Swanley, Canterbury and Brighton established for young people who have previously struggled in formal education.

Our students are aged 16 to 19, or up to 25 with an EHCP,  have a wide variety of social, emotional or behavioural needs but who all share a passion for music or learning about the music industry.

At SupaJam our young people work to achieve the RSL Music Business Diplomas at Levels 1, 2 and 3,  English and Maths, life skills and British Values. Our RSL music classes are small with about 8 students per class. All classes are supported by our Learning Support Practitioners (LSP's) who either have SEN or practical music experience.

Our ethos is to provide a kind, supportive and non-judgemental educational experience that celebrates the skills our young people already have, builds on them and prepares them for a successful progression onto higher education or with within the music industry. Last year over 70% of our leavers progressed to university!

Our Swanley base specialises in live performance, recording, music technology. It also has its own professional recording studio, fully equipped jam room and a dedicated podcasting studio.

Students have opportunities to demonstrate these skills both inside and outside of the classroom and through industry related practical work experience. Our aim is for students to thrive, grow, and discover a love of learning that will continue long beyond their time at SupaJam.
