We are seeking an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and committed Teaching Assistant to work under the guidance of the SENDCO, teachers and senior staff to raise the learning and attainment of pupils, whilst also promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. You will provide assistance to pupils so that they can access the curriculum, participate in learning, and experience a sense of achievement. You will be required to work in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. Previous relevant experience is desirable.
You will be required for 32½ hours each week, term time only Monday to Friday. St Damian’s is widely recognised for the quality of care it provides for all pupils and the professional opportunities afforded to all colleagues. “Pupils’ personal development is promoted exceedingly well” [Ofsted 2023]

St Damian’s RC Science College is a mixed, mainstream, Roman Catholic secondary school in Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire. It caters to students aged 11 to 16 and has approximately 770 pupils enrolled.

St Damian’s RC Science College’s motto is "Faithful in all things". The school’s main aim is to provide a caring, supportive environment where each pupil can begin to love the art of learning and fulfil their academic potential.
The secondary school strives to help each student develop into a mature, responsible and Christian adult. Staff provide opportunities to take part in acts of worship throughout the year, as well as charity activities. The pastoral system is based on a culture of respect and focuses on the welfare and achievement of students.
The curriculum concentrates on the core subjects of maths, RE, PE, English and science. Other subjects include art and design, performing arts, product design, nutrition and construction.
