The Creative Industries Department at Barnet & Southgate College is a dynamic and forward-thinking institution, dedicated to providing a high-quality learning experience.   

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic TV Studio Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will support the operation and maintenance of our TV studio, ensuring all technical aspects run smoothly for both academic and extracurricular projects. This role is ideal for someone passionate about media production and education.  

Our new STUDIO facilities, including the TV Studio, Post Production, and Sound Suite, have significantly enhanced our courses with cutting-edge, industry-standard media equipment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

- Studio Operations: Set up, and maintain TV Studio equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio systems, and editing software 

- Technical Support: provide technical support to students and staff during studio sessions, assisting with troubleshooting and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. 

- Maintenance: conduct regular maintenance check on all studio equipment, perform necessary repairs, and coordinate with external service providers for more complex issues. 

- Training and Guidance: Train students and staff on the proper use of studio equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices. 

- Project Assistance: Assist in the planning and execution of live broadcasts, recordings, and other media projects, offering technical expertise and creative input. 

- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of studio equipment and supplies, managing check-in/check-out processes and ensuring the availability of necessary resources. 

- Innovation: Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in media production, recommending upgrades and improvements to enhance the studio's capabilities. 

Qualifications: 

- Education: A relevant qualification in media production, broadcasting, or a related field. 

- Experience: Proven experience in a TV studio environment, with hands-on knowledge of studio equipment and production processes. 

- Technical Skills Proficiency in operating and maintaining various studio equipment, including cameras, lighting rigs, audio mixers, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro). 

- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and support students and staff. 

- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform under pressure during live broadcasts and recordings. 

- Organisational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
